A hood ornament on a 40's vintage Chevy. Chrome (chromium) plated, of course. Uploaded this Sunday night and was not totally happy with it, the composition and perspective still seemed lacking. I lucked out with the upload problem Sunday, as it gave me another day to think about what it needed. It hit me on the drive home from work. A little bit of artificially induced dynamic tilt was what it needed. I'm pleased with it now.

Pre-challenge notes:
I'm probably going to get killed in the voting on this, but you never know. I expect this will be either a love or or hate it kind of entry. I like the strong perspective with the extremely narrow DOF. My wife says she doesn't like it at all. I will therefore be continuing my small experiment to see if going opposite my wife's advice results is better scores on DPC.

Post-challenge notes:
This rather surprised me by coming in with a high mediocre score. i expected it to either bomb out in the 4's or do pretty well. Something like this probably would have done better in the narrow DOF challenge from several months back. I still like it.

Steve,I found it pretty interesting actually! I guess from the artist side of me, I see an artistic shot rather than the technicalities and this one hit me on the artistic side which really made me stop and look at it a lot more than some of the technically brilliant pieces. To be perfectly honest (no disrespect intended to the ribboners at all)....I actually thought this was FAR more meaningful than the technically well done winning shots!

I'm afraid that being in here can be dangerous to artistic flare. It trains AGAINST it in a lot of ways. Our eyes are being trained to look at a photo for technical aspects and esthetics rather than anything really artistic. You have an artistic eye. Keep it that way. DPC'ers will eventually evolve! ;)

Good concept, but the perspective and framing hurt this shot. I feel like she just knocked me over, and now she's walking away without a second glance! IMO, A horizontal comp with her entering the frame would have been stronger.

I learned something. I didn't realize Chrome was an element I thought it was a compound. Thanks for that. :)

The face is so reflective, to me, it makes the whole image feel soft.

My mind wants more depth of field and I am distracted by the amount of "useless" unfocused visual information provided.
