Life in Sandby thekfactorComment: It takes a moment of looking to really appreciate this shot. I love the lighting on this and the bubbles that you've captured. 8 |

Ancientby colorcarnivalComment: I love the texture and the blurred side to this, Michelle. It gives it interest because in full focus, it would been a bit boring. WITH the focus being blurred on the one side, it's really given it some depth and perspective. It's always difficult to photograph coins so, really nicely done! Kudos! |

The Gardenby colorcarnivalComment: I thought this one was really interesting! Actually, I thought it was part of a fish tank, taken through the glass and water with reflections off the back glass of the tank! You fooled me and I really liked it!
Keep experimenting like this because it's really interesting and very creative! :)

Winter Solstice by digifotojoComment: CONGRATULATIONS JO!!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!
This is an absolutely stunning image. It has such a feel to it and "mood". LOVE IT!!!
ETA: I love the shadow from the tree. I think it works perfectly well to add "mood" to this shot. Getting rid of the shadow would have focused solely on the tree itself and lent itself to more of a stock shot look. This entire shot, including the shadow has a real feel to it and it's what makes the shot what it is!
Photographers do not live by stock shots alone! ;-) Message edited by author 2009-01-06 11:11:30. |

Asian Beautyby digifotojoComment: I LOVE the way that her white jacket blends in with the white background to reveal just her hair and frilly blouse. It really frames her face and puts the emphasis on her face, drawing the viewer's eye to her. Great pose too! Love the way that she's looking away from the camera.

Run over - human vs. animal!by thomasjessenComment: You know, I love art and freedom of art and that ability to express our creative sides and obviously, this is Life..it happens and it's unfortunate that it does happen. Some people look at photographs and ask themselves "why am I looking at this...why would I want to see what has been captured?" So....my question would have to be on this one, what you, personally, think that others whould see in this or better stated, why would we want to see a photograph of it?
You'd be right in saying that I can turn away from it and don't have to look at it but, on the same hand, it is one of the entries in here and I have to wonder out of all of the millions of other shots that could have been taken and entered, why enter this one? What was your motive? Are you young and this is fascinating to you? Is it shock value?
And, now, I'm clicking off of it because Life is cruel enough and I love animals enough to know that it happens, I just don't want to see it in a photograph in front of me in a Free Study where anything else could have been photographed. |

Carousel girl by MelethiaComment: Congratulations Melethia!!!! What an absolutley BRILLIANT shot!
I love the way that you have explained quite softly that you were SHOOTING THROUGH GLASS! *smile* I can't find a way to say this as nicely as you have but, the mere fact that there seems to be some sort of fanaticism towards focus in some in here just completely blows my mind. They are missing out on some really wonderfully meaningful shots by being so hung up on technicals! I'm glad that more than not, others saw the true value in the shot and got past the "technicals, technicals, technicals". :)
Actually, I LOVE the outtake of this little girl with her head bent and the angle that you shot it on. It was such as meaningful, wonderful shot that truly captured her fascination with the carousel. It tells an entire story with her in-depth fascination!!! Absolutely stunning shot!!! But, I also understand, given the comments about "focus" why you didn't use that one in this site. You have a real knack for capturing people and I beg you not to compromise that because of those who are sticklers for technicals. To do that, we may as all just shoot the same thing and see whose technicals on it were best. :(
Keep up your brilliant work, Melethia because there are enough of us who truly see it's beauty!
Congrats again!!! |

... is a day offby colorcarnivalComment: You know, Santa may run around the world in one night but, he works 365 days a year to be able to run around the world in one night!!! Fuel prices have been a drag.
Really love this shot, Michelle. It does remind me of a Norman Rockwell!!! Oh, Woman...blow this up and frame it! You really could be in advertising. :)
This score was FAR too low for this shot......
Shoulda asked Santa to strip and put a red bow on his whoha!!! ;) |
