"Please Sir, I want some more"
by Shifty_Powers

Comment:
A good idea, but the plastic bowl and well groomed hands don't tie to the story well. Would like to see more subject, in a way that lends to the story. I can faintly see burn lines around the hands and forearms as well, but that may be this monitor so take that with a grain of salt. 3

"North and South," by John Jakes

Comment:
Very cool shot. There is a lot of subtle detail in this that really make it stand out. The smoke trails coming from the rear of the cannon, the sparks from the front, the soil spray, the rain (I think) on the left. 8

There are some excellent shots in this challenge that really reflect not just the title of the book, but the content as well. This is one of them. The second I opened this I could hear his voice in my head politely asking for some more, please. Bonus points for doing this as a grainy dark black and white. 9

I'm not sure what to make of this. Odd lighting and angles, strange props and some untold wry humor. I want there to be a story in here, maybe some youthful rebellion but I can't find it. 3

I have read very little O. Henry, so I may be missing something. Since I don't know the tie to the author, the image just looks like an oddly placed cabbage and some cards. 4

Somewhat appropriate tie to the book, though would have preferred a more time appropriate look. The clothing and tattoo detract because of this. The lighting seems to try to draw my attention to the hip. 3

This seems like it wants to have a darker moody feel, but it doesn't really happen. A little more on the black scale would have helped I think. That said, I have not read this book so may be missing something. 4

The Postman Always Rings Twice

Comment:
While not reflective of the story, I was a bit amused by the tie in to the title. Could use a little light on the postman though, as the background, especially the tree behind him draws my attention. 4

Snow White

Snow White

Comment:
Wearing a bit of white doesn't really make the tie to Snow White to me, especially with the prominence of the yellow pants. A little too much competing for my attention in the background that doesn't really add to the story as well. A decent candid though, and I may have scored better in a different challenge. 4

Nice one. I gave up on straight horizon lines, but yours is not that bad. Wouldn't be that hard to fill the white and black areas.
