I have not read the story, only the plot summary. This still feels like an ambiguous take on the story, that may or may not have anything at all to do with what the story is about. The colors and tones and textures all work well, but the edge at the bottom of the page could be straightened or removed. It draws my attention from the content as it is. 6

Perfect range of deep blacks and stark whites. I'm not sure what this is, and I can't find a relation to the story. A tad too abstract for me, leaving the tie to the story something I can only imagine. Might have scored it higher in a different challenge. 6

Outstanding shot! The smooth water with ever so faint ripples, and low sun in the fog, leaving just a silhouette of the trees is very well done. I have only read the plot summary and not the book, but the tie to the story rather than the title is not clear. Would have rated it higher in another challenge, or with a clearer story tie (though I may be missing that). 7

Clearly a main theme of the book. The warm orange tones are pleasant, the foggy haze in front of the islands gives it depth. Would like a little more story rather than just scene, but that is a minor nitpick. 7

The tones and grain give it a sense of foreboding that I like. The slight disassociated feel of the plant works well. This is one of the Vonnegut books that I haven't read, and reading the plot summary doesn't give me enough to make a tie to the story. 7

The deep tones on the black and white scale are very appropriate for this shot, and reflect on the story well. All of the items are very symbolic of the main pieces of the story, down to the flower for the mouses grave. 8

I have not read the book, but I read the plot summary and this seems like a fitting piece. The stark black and the simplicity are quite appealing. 7

Not sure I see the connection to the story, outside of architecture. I like the reflection on the water and the subtle ripples, and the just after sundown blue really looks nice. Would have rated higher in a different challenge. 6

This seems like a loose tie to the book, though I have only read the plot summary so take this with a grain of salt. Not a bad shot, but I don't get the feeling that it emotes much of the story. 5

I can kind of see the tie here. If this is a government building it would help tie it to the story in a modern way, but I can't tell if that is the case. Otherwise an interesting shot. The colors and angles play well, and the sky gives it a sense of height. Still, it seems forced in this challenge. 5
