A wonderful vision to see this scene for what it can be and attempt to capture it. I think you have done a pretty good job here of telling the story, but I wonder if your distance from the scene makes it seem more a 'glance' than 'deep look'. These type shots are likely to score poorly, although they are a joy to linger over and try to find the hidden stories.

on the technical side, i think Jagar hit it with the harshness of the light (the wave is blown out).

love the colors and details throughout but the balance of the image with the dock off centered is somehow not working for me. I would have cropped a bit off the left to make it centered (knowing full well that the branch would now be cut off).

Regarding your title (I would have left off the bit after Play at the Plate). For the image here, it is taken too late to decide if the player is safe or not as his foot is on the bag AND he is being tagged. We need to see a shot where he is either being tagged and not on the plate or on the plate and not being tagged. :-)
