1, 2, 3... 10!by klkitchensComment: It took me a moment to get the 10 reference. But then again I am a little slow.
A like the diagonal composition and the use of reflection here. Great idea and well executed. |

Boat ID: 27683by JulietNNComment: If we could actually SEE the numbers I might be convinced but as lovely as this shot is it doesn't meet the challenge in my opinion. |

from darkness rises a silent prayerby dragonballzfsrComment: Just to add to taterbug's comment: f/22 gives a lot of DOF but not sharpness. Your best sharpness comes about 2 stops from full. (Like about f/5 ish for this particular lens). There is an old saying "f/8 and be there" for photojournalism. The reason for f/8 is it is generally your sharpest aperture for most lenses.
You can use this site to calculate depth of field. For this particular shot you don't need a whole bunch of depth since you are only interesting in keeping the flower and the stem in focus. At five feet away with this lens, f/22 gives you 2.71 feet of good focus. f/5 gives you about 0.57 feet. (Just over six inches).
Hopefully this all makes sense...
I'd also second tater's comment about using a reflector on the one dark petal. |

Take Me Awayby LMA128Comment: Originally posted by LadyTara: I give this 5, would've been 6 I think if she were centered. |
I disagree. I don't think a centered composition would have worked with this. Perhaps cropping a bit off the left side maybe but not centered. Just my 2 cents though.
I would maybe try a vertical orientation as well. It would maybe give more of a feeling of upward movement. It would also make the subject and her balloons more prominent in the scene. Message edited by author 2008-08-27 18:56:02. |

How did that get in there?by LiamD2005Comment: I personally like the idea but I'd have to say that its quite hard to execute. Yeah the focus is a little off but even if that was corrected it might be a tough sell. Moving the wrapper to a more prominent location in the scene would help I think as would removing the red items as suggested previously.
Different isn't a bad idea but don't be surprised if you get dinged for it. Also don't be surprised when people marvel at your ingenuity. :) |
