DaFooldyaby cogeroxComment: On the fence with the selective desat. I almost would like to see
a) the full color version
b) a version where all the blossoms are in color
for comparison.
There are some areas (especially in the trees) that appear quite dark however I don't think we need to see the detail there since the focus is on the blossoms. I like the contrast you attained in the black and white conversion.
Title kinda bugs me but who am I to say. Its your image after all and you can name it whatever you want. :) |

Caramel morningby Yo_SpiffComment: If you had just moved a few feet to the right... then again. Maybe you didn't want to line up the sun with the tree...
Great shot with nicely saturated colors. Good distinct shape in the silhouette. Too bad about the smaller tree. (I suppose taking an axe to it was out of the question) :) |

Follow The Leader???by DrakeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
When I first saw this image I didn't really see how it fit the challenge. After seeing it again and using the grey gunk between my ears I see it now.
The shine off the shells is a little distracting. A circular polarize would help reduce the glare. Of course, animals aren't going to wait for you to get your filter out of your bag.
The crop is a little tight and I find myself wanting a bit more on the top of the image.
Lighting is a little harsh but again: they aren't going to go buy themselves a coke and come back at the golden hour are they?
Overall interesting scene and well handled considering the circumstances. |

Skitterby snafflesComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I'd have to agree with earlier comments regarding the blurriness. Tough situation though. You could go with a higher shutter speed and get this fella sharp. But then it wouldn't show motion. If you went with an even longer shutter speed he would no longer be recognizable as a crab. Perhaps not the best choice of subject for this challenge. Then again maybe there are ways of shooting it? Perhaps a slow shutter speed with flash right at that end of the exposure. (Is that rear curtain sync or front curtain sync? I can never remember). He'd have the blur to show his movement, but you'd have him frozen in the end to get the detail. Not exactly sure how to set the camera up to do that though. (Heck, I don't know if MY camera can do that I've pretty much memorized the manual). |

'Til the Storm Passes Overby karmatComment: The shadow areas don't have enough detail and highlights are blown out. This might be because the processing is quite harsh. If the processing were toned down a bit and kept to the basics I think we'd see more details and yet you'd still be able to keep the mood that you wanted to convey. |
