Shaken, not stirred... by AleciaComment: Lovely colours and lighting. Very cool indeed. Not sure what your occupation is though ? Professional drinker ? :) |

Skipping Stonesby SwashbucklerComment: Critique Club:
Looks like a hard shot to get and pretty poor lighting too. My main issue is that I don't think the shutter was fast enough - I'd like it more with a faster shutter/ maybe higher ISO to really freeze the droplets that are in the air and to give a crisper splash.
A great idea and good execution apart from that though. |

Market Streetby MiekaComment: Critique Club
Black and white works well for this. Makes the focus on the shapes/ patterns rather than what I would expect be a riot of colour.
The person in the scene also adds a lot of interest.
I think the only problem I have with this is how it has been converted to black & white. It feels very flat, with fairly low contrast. Some additional work to make this more contrasty might have made better use of the strong shadows and made the whole picture 'pop' a bit more. |

Flower Girlby SonifoComment: Critique Club
This is a charming picture. The lighting is excellent - very even and soft and the 'pose' seems quite natural. The smile looks genuine and you've gotten good catchlights in the eyes which bring the shot to life.
The only problem I have with this shot is that I think you need to use a longer lens/ get further away as it just feels like her features are a bit distorted by the focal length on the camera.
Not sure if you can do that with your current equipment though, but it has made her head seem ever so slightly 'off' and makes me uneasy looking at the shot. Everything else is extremely well done. |

Broken Motion by JackoComment: a great image. Very effectively done. Only minor gripe is the overall orangy cast |

Agapanthusby sulamkComment: an attractive macro - with the lines and direction in this, it might be worth looking at 'upside down' ? It feels like it should be pointing in the other direction to my eye. The 'other' flower that is really tightly cropped in the upper right would be worth cloning out to enhance the focus on the subject |

A Melancholy Songby indigo997Comment: Love the lighting, very well done - only small thing is the guitar shadow on the backdrop which spoils it a touch. The wings are very subtly shown but the lighting has made her legs look slightly deformed because of the position and how the shadows fall on the right shin, looks very twisted as a result. Almost tempted to suggest cropping at about mid-thigh level, as the box/ seat is quite visible too - this could make an excellent square cropped picture ? The halo effect is very softly done and works well with the blue theme/ colouring. Her right hand seems out of focus or blurred though, and her hair seems to have gone green in the light. A very good entry - interesting in ways most submissions here just don't achieve. |

North Hatley Fogby mariomelComment: Wonderful shot. I'm sure you are kicking yourself that the 'blue' challenge is this week :) Not sure I really get a photojournalism vibe from this though. Other than the challenge issue, I love this. Very well framed and exposed. Now go and do it again for next week! Gordon |
