very cool! you just reminded me, i need to use my laser pointer more... the one thing that bothers me is that the laser shape is weighted a bit to the right, which i think spoils the centered composition. also, i wish there were some overlap in the two elements.

hehehehe, nice. very cool idea. i'd have wanted it to be set up a bit differently though, so that the background is just black. if you could have turned the whole thing around 90 degrees so that the stovetop controls weren't visible, that would bring out the mixer more, i think. i'm giving it a 7/10.

nice composition and good tonal range, especially in the mouth of the thing. however i wish you hadn't taken the shot against the bricks -- i think they make the gold tone and the antiqueness of the piece lose some of its impact. actually, if you'd been able to find a cobblestone road that would have been perfect :)

i like the perspective, and the b&w treatment. the dead-center flash actually works unusually well for me too. but nothing in the subject really holds my interest -- it's just a pot boiling over.

cool composition and very polished lighting. this would make a nice cover image for a cookbook! the only nit i can pick is that the right spoon is slightly lower than the left one.

really nice composition and lighting. the two things that bother me are the black halos around the knife and apple (probably from unsharp mask) and the fact that the apple is the only thing with any color, which makes it look composited or fake somehow to me... i wish the knife had a bit of color in it -- especially a hint of green to show that the apple really is sitting on it.

very cool idea, and i really like the shape of the fork. there are a few things that detract from the image for me, though. the hand is pretty overwhelming in the composition, and is out of the frame a bit at the top. the weird blurry lines in the hand, also... i don't understand what they are so i keep gravitating toward them. and lastly, the hdr technique -- the way it brings out noise in the dark areas and leaves a really visible halo around the hand -- it's too much. this is a concept you should keep playing with, though -- it has a lot of possibility.

sweet. perfectly "posed" and the play with depth of field here is also a great effect. nice composition too. the one thing that hurts the image for me is the unsharp mask haloes around the edges of the fork.

SLEEP...It's Overrated!

Comment:
composition is weighted too heavily toward the left, i think. also, boo on words -- they diffuse any subtext the image might have had. if you're going for the "sleep is for the weak" theme, there are more metaphoric ways of going about it (but then again, they probably wouldn't have fit with the challenge theme).
