Quiet spot in loud placeby zeoliteComment: okay meanies, listen up. some people on this site are:
1. new photographers who may not know even the simple lingo like the definition of 'portrait'
2. people who speak English as a second or even third language.
3. young and innocent
4. so excited about entering a picture they don't realize the exact requirements
5. worthy of gentler comments.
Please remember that you might hurt someone's feelings, causing them to put their camera down and be afraid to pick it up again.
Please, don't just harshly criticize or call someone a 'timewaster'. There's no cause for that. People are trying to learn here... |

Black and Whiteby NikonJebComment: wow, 27 1's and 25 2's? that's harsh and if I remember correctly from my reading of the guidelines of the site, it is recommended NOT to give extremely low scores just because a photo (in anyone's own humble opinion) does not meet the challenge. Thinking outside the box is what we need more of in this world of cookie cutter houses and mass production. That is a gorgeous BLACK and WHITE photo, Jeb. Look at that perfect bald head and that lovely cocoa skin. Come on people... why don't some of you give Jeb some positive comments. Just pretend for a moment that it said N/A in the description of this challenge. Oh wait... it did. |

Judithby pupparazzoComment: I was one of your 4 9's. I love close up portraits of the elderly. I love the authenticity of this shot. Wow, I can't believe more people didn't connect with this one. Your mom looks like she's thinking of days gone by, and there's some soft yearning in her eyes. And I love her for letting you take her portrait even though her lipstick has come off. 103 5's? Wow. This is going into my favorites. Tell Mom I say hello and thanks for introducing her to us. |

Grandmotherby choppersComment: yes, feeling of disconnect. Grammy looks like she'd rather be doing something else. nice lighting though, and the baby looks very snuggly. |

Nothing to sing aboutby jimnessComment: So detailed, right down to the hole in his shoe and the peeling guitar. This picture is worth a million words, not just a thousand. |
