Jon, welcome to DPC. I think the colors in this entry are beautiful. The fact they come from spaghetti sauce packaging makes me happy. Your image might have scored higher except people are very tired of water drop photos. There are other subjects that get photographed more often, but for some reason people really hate the splash shots!

I look forward to seeing your future entries. And yes, those black dots along the bottom do mar the photo a bit. As Ja-9 suggested, check for sensor dust.

Kevin, I thought this might be yours. It's an exceptionally clever concept. The tiles look great against the black background. The "letterbox" frame looks terrific (I almost think they should be outlawed). :-) This would make a great poster and could possibly sell, but I think you would have to reshoot because even at this size it looks a bit soft. I'd love to really see the grain in the wooden tiles! I also felt the title was proselytizing, but didn't "deduct" points for that.

I love this serious, enigmatic photo. It got my only "9" vote (and I didn't give any 10s). The b&w works very well. Meets the theme in an understated but clear way. I like how it lets you decide for yourself for who or what she is hoping.

Another judo guy, or just a friend? Appealing photo, I like how you've posed and captured him, though the photo could use a little punch. Maybe more contrast, or maybe just tweak the sharpen a bit?

Yeah, I loved this portrait. The only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 was that I couldn't tell if I liked the photograph or the fact that the subject is just so darn sexy. :-D
