Secret Gardenby ordinaryangelComment: Nice eye for the natural frame (or man-made natural frame heh). If only there weresomething a bit more exciting behind the fence. |

Day 15 - Left for dead...by shalrathComment: You're always good for an eye catching post and this is no exception. Love everything about it, but I think backing down the saturation of the yellow tones might be worthwhile. It's just a bit overpowering to me, and actually makes it hard for my eye to distinguish a lot of the shapes in the scene. |

Sutter Buttesby cogeroxComment: Nice scene and I like how the foreground frames the shot. Overall it's pretty dark though and I'm thinking a narrower aperture (f11 or higher) might get those mountains or whatever is on the horizon to stand out with more detail. |

Turn Of The Century Singerby QuigleyComment: I think you've got an interesting subject here. It's old, it's unusual, it's full of interesting shapes and details.
Really the challenge here is how to present it. Some thoughts on this particular approach would be to come out wide a bit so the object doesn't feel cramped in the frame. I'd also rotate the shot a bit to the right to level out some of the main horizontal lines.
I'm way behind on comments so you may have already moved on, but it might be worth shooting this thing from different angles as well as isolating 'pieces' of it. The back wheel with that handle looks like it could make for an interesting head-on shot in a square crop for instance.
I remember you were playing with some lighting - the way you spilled some light on the background is great and pops this thing out a bit. |

The Grass by ATAPEComment: Great natural back lighting. I like the tones as they keep that feeling of a warm summer evening with the sun just dropping behind the horizon. |

Day14.jpgby FotoMunkiComment: Haha another starbucks junkie.
Really cool shot. I thought you really framed the moon like that, but reading it is a composite I have to say it all came together looking 'real'. |

Dessert for Dinnerby PiechProductionsComment: Critique Club feedback -
This is a nice entry that meets the challenge well. Looks like you spent a good bit of time laying out your 'props' with an eye for detail, and it paid off.
The composition is interesting, though I find all the leading lines keep moving my eye quickly past the plate and on to that coffee cup.
The lighting is good, though the processing appears to have pulled the image back towards the dark side of things overall and the contrast is also slightly heavy.
Again, its the attention to detail that really sets this shot apart. The sprinkles on the milk, the placing of the strawberry - really great. About the only thing missing here is a salt shaker full of chocolate powder and I think I'd be licking my screen! |

The Gridiron Enforcerby Buckeye_FanComment: Critique Club feedback -
Great use of bokeh. Per the challenge goal, it really enhances the subject by giving a context for the scene without providing detail which steals the attention away from the ref.
Composition is good, lighting is good. This really has the feel of a late afternoon game.
Pants on the ref are a bit overexposed, but I think all the important details in the rest of his outfit make up for it.
If possible you should try and submit at the full dimensions allowed by the challenge rules. |
