So while going for my typical 10mi jog this morning (ok, not true, I was on the way to Starbucks for a Grande Mocha Frapacino - no whip of course! Watching my figure ya know.), I ran across this awesomely cool tree! I've seen this tree many times (and have photographed it before), but it just dawned on my what a cool B&W it would make.

Anyway, ran out of the car (ok, you got me again - I "walked" out of the car) and grabbed a quick shot. The sky was of course wonderfully blue, so in CS3 RAW conversion I went grayscale and dropped the blue, cyan, and yellows to make it night. I added a moon shot I took in 2005 (save those moon shots!!) to give it a little kick.

PS - only the moon was cut an pasted (not the tree!) - the weird pixelation around the branches comes from moss hanging off the tree. BTW, you would think this is a completely rural shot, but this is actually a field in between corporate buildings - there's a mall to the left of me, gas stations to the right, and there I was, right in the middle of again! (anyone catch that song reference??) :-) Showing my age here.

Haha another starbucks junkie.

Really cool shot. I thought you really framed the moon like that, but reading it is a composite I have to say it all came together looking 'real'.

This is beautiful. The moss and the huge moon give this photo such an eerie feeling.

I wasn't believing a word of this until you explained that the moon was dropped in. Then it made sense. Wrong time of month to get a shot like that of the moon. Anyway, great job mixing your photos. The tree is well exposed, and makes a very believable foreground for the moon shot. This is a keeper.
