Exploding Sunby roby21112Comment: A powerful visual effect. A classic example of "looking where others look, and seeing what no-one else sees". |

Tainted Womanby otisXmikeComment: At the risk of appearing prurient, I think this is a great shot that would have been even better if the woman behind the glass had been naked. Modesty would have been well-served with the lighting as it is, and the eroticism of nudity just out of reach (both visually and physically) beyond the barrier of the glass would've made for a great piece of art.
But it's still very good. Colour, framing, border, theme - all great. |

New Eyes for a Vintage Machineby bcobleComment: Beautifully composed. And more than a little effort has gone into polishing up the car as well, I'm guessing :-) I love the strong colur theme - ochre counterpointed by sky blue. And the choice of angle is inspired.
If I was being really picky, I would suggest aiming for a cleaner reflection in the headlight reflector and paintwork. There's clearly a lot of "stuff" going on behind the camera. The strong blue reflection of the sky in the rim of the headlight works really well, having a clean reflection of the road in the other half of the rim would've made it perfect.
But it is a great shot, no doubt about it. |

Diabloby JohnnyflashComment: A shot with some great potential. There are some strong, compelling colours here.
There is also some darker red happening over on the left, and I wonder if the shot would have gained from having this more involved in the composition. Maybe if you'd aimed for a less square aspect-ratio, and introduced more of the darker red on the left, with the pipe as a compositional element to lead us from the left towards the furnace on the right... |

Soul in Glassby k_n_rajaComment: You've created an entrancing effect with this shot. Well done. I love the way you've illuminated the statuette to emphasise the transluscence of the frosted glass. And the dark satanic background provides an evocative counterpoint to the serenity and poise of the subject.
Being a little picky, I would have tried positioning the subject just a little differently. The raised arm of the standing figure looks a bit lost. But then you need to keep the cape in view, so maybe this was a good compromise position. |

Swizzles and Swervesby banmornComment: This is great. The choice of background pattern really brings out the refractive nature of the glass. The splaying of the rods from being tightly bunched in the corner to spreading across the upper right side of the frame is very well thought out. And having one rod crossing another, so we see a hint of refractions of refractions, is inspired. |

Jagged Edgesby AndyGTComment: A nice shot, let down just a little by the loss of focus at the tip of the glass. I can never get that right with macro shots either!
I might have framed it a little differently, perhaps with the glass at more of an angle and filling less of the frame.
But it's a great choice of subject matter for a macro shot - lots of stuff to look at in the broken edge of the glass. |
