tiredby FourPointXComment: I like the idea of framing the distant view through something closer. But in this case, the tire takes up too much of the frame for me. It might have worked better to be sure the tire was straight on, to maximize the image area for the distant parts. Not just because of the challenge, but because that would've brought in more detail from far away, making the image more interesting. Also, if you're going to frame the subject, I think it usually works best not to have "leakage," meaning the areas at the corners where the background shows through. Those bright spots distract me from paying attention to the nice primary scene. All in all, a good effort. I hope my suggestions help you continue to experiment with the technique! |

Crossing Underby fotomann_foreverComment: The pose strikes me as her relieving herself more than crossing a stream. I'm also not getting the story here - why is she not wearing underwear? And what's at a distance? |

They've Landed!by dtremainComment: This reminds of a time I was 3 and got lost behind my house. I was found near a school that had domes like this. |

Solitary Towerby redmoonComment: The odd desaturation isn't working for me. Which is too bad, because I like the composition otherwise. |

Sambro Lighthouse in the Distanceby DomDComment: Sorry, but putting something in the title doesn't make it the subject. The subject pretty clearly is the rock and spray. Aside from that, though, I think the vertical orientation detracts from the power of the water. A wide view would grab me more. |

'Look Mummy, there's an Aeroplane up in the Sky'by BlackboxComment: Why put a landsxape shot into a portrait orientation? Not working for me. The image seems to have quite strong JPG artifacts - the sky shouldn't be choppy like that. Which is too bad, because the image itself is nice. |

City In The Skyby PetRockComment: Intriguing! Is the sun below the clouds, creating shadows on their undersides? |

For some, Death comes too soonby KristinaGComment: I definitely give you credit for telling a story vs. many of the other entries. But the concept "memoir" to me means something about yourself, not just any story.
As for the image, I agree with James that it seems more like an experiment that a sad moment. I don't mind the color - firelight's very warm.
But the lack of emotion means I'm not especially drawn in. |
