sunset at bird's rockby RikkiComment: Great job! What gorgeous color in the sky, and the overall photo. Very different from the other hundred that I've looked at today. The rock is very prominent. I love the appearance of the fog (or is it waves??) in front of the rock, and the subtle water that remains on the sand. I'm raising my original score from a 5 to a 9, only knocking it because I couldn't tell about that fog/wave thing. And great job in meeting the challenge without leaving me to wonder how. |

Rottingdeanby lifeboat8Comment: Great job! Nice use of color - in the sky and in the reflection off the water. Loved the motion in small ripples on the water. I also liked the historic 'old castle' feeling of the subject matter to the right, and the rough feeling of the pebbles on the beach. Raising my original score from a 5 to a 6, as this is an above average shot. |

Blue Viewby aberrationComment: Great job! Love the glassiness of the water, and the sense that I better get indoors before it gets too dark. It seems busy on the opposite shore, and emits a feeling of solitude on my side. I'm not a big fan of the technique that creates the look around the foreground rocks, making it appear like fog. Just a bit too 'Lord of the Rings' to me. But overall, a very nice shot. However, a water shot, or even a shoreline shot, does not always mean 'beach' in my opinion. And meeting the challenge, to me, is the first and most important thing, if that isn't done, then anything else is unimportant. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful and creative shot, because in this case, it absolutely is! I do love it! I went back and forth on how to score your pic, but I do vote low for those that I don't think meet the challenge, so to be consistant, I am voting this lower than I want for the reasons stated above. |

Dog Days of Summer.by HVGB_photosComment: Great job! Although I'm not a big animal fan (and thank God I can't smell the wet dog from here, because I'd have to vote lower... hahaha!), this is a very nice shot. Ful of action. Loved the water drops coming off the dog and seeming to trail behind him as he runs. Loved the color and clarity in this pic. I'm raising my original score from a 5 to a 7 because this meets the challenge so well without causing me to have to guess how it fits the theme. |

Zen on the beachby xantangummiComment: Great job! This is very sweet. I love the tonal qaulities of this shot, and of course, I find all child shots very nice. I love the fact that although it doesn't have all the 'caribbean colors' of many of the beach scenes in this challenge, it has an overall beauty and charm to it that can't be denied. You met the challenge well, without leaving me to have to figure out how it fits the theme. I'm raising my score from a 5 to a 7. |

Alone in the Fogby drj0037Comment: Great job. I really loved the foggy background and the clarity of the grains of sand. I also like the larger stones in contrast to the smaller pebbles of sand. I dislike the old shoe, but that doesn't take away from the overall beauty of this photo. I am raising my original vote on this one from a 5 to a 7 because it is above the norm, just not extremely interesting. However, thank you for meeting the challenge without leaving room to wonder how it fits the theme, like so many photos in this challenge have done. |

Alamereby bryanbrazilComment: Great job! I don't know where Alamere is, but this shot makes me want to find out! It's a gorgeous shot. The colors are phenomenal. The reflection in the water is also very nice! The ONLY thing that I don't like in this shot is the waterfall. It just seems to stick out like a sore thumb, a black box in the middle of the orange cliffs. But I am raising my original vote from 5 to 8, as this photo meets the challenge without leaving me to wonder how it fits the theme, and for the technical merit and overall beauty. |

Surfingby admajicComment: Great job! I love the brightness of the reflection of the surboard! The colors throughout this photo are very nice and I love the movement of the wave crashing behind her. I'm upping my original vote from 5 to 7 on this one, and thanks for meeting the challenge dead on without having to make me think about how it's fitting the theme. |

Nightfallby LalliSigComment: Great job! This photo would have been a little better had you removed teh telephone polls in the distance. It is very nice, with great movement in the sky, great use of color, and for creating a feeling that comes with being outside alone at night. The other thing that distracts from the overall beauty of this photo isin the middle right side of this photo extending to the center, it's hard to tell what those black outlines are. They appear to be rocks or seaweed, but they just look kinda 'blobby'. I gave this a 5 for meeting the challenge without leaving me to have to guess about how it fits the theme. |

A Night at Beachby arpitmittalComment: Great job! I like night shots, and this one has alot going on in it. I love the reflection in the water of the lights, but also how the little floats on the roped area are highlighted. The sky has some clouds that are hinting at, and the sand in the foreground adds some interest. What knocks this that with the exception of the gazebo at the far right of this photo, the buildings do not have any definition to them because of the lights themselves. So part of what makes this interesting, also hurts the photo. I'm giving it a 5 for meeting the challenge without leaving me to guess about it, and for the elements of interest in this photo. |
