Charge!!!by jab119Comment: I recently saw a display just like this one - crazy I say! I like the placement of the plane and how the contrail of smoke suggests it came zooming in from the lower left corner. The plane is fairly sharp and you've managed to capture some motion in the propellers. The guy tops it all off with the red costume that makes it stand out greatly - he looks like a hood ornament. You can almost make out the details in his face. Good capture. |

Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment: There seems to be a little too much rock in the image. Cropping it at the points at which it connects to the sides of the image so that the diagonal line goes from bottom corner to top corner would make it more dynamic and reduce the amount of rock. The moon doesnt really stand out more than just a white blob - it is hard to expose both foreground and moon in what appears to be very harsh lighting conditions. There also appears to be some compression artifacts and the image looks oversharpened. |

My Home Townby Prime_TimeComment: Ah downtown Wichita! The lights are bordering on being a bit too bright/blurry but not overly so. I like the reflections in the river. |

Got Kleenex?by BradComment: The texture on the beak is really good. The main problem here is the lighting. although you got good lighting on the beak and the top part of the head the side is really dark and you've completely lost the eye to darkness. As with human portraits, the eyes are a key feature to show life. It looks like you also have some purple fringing at the top, liking from the extremes of dark and light. |

Golden Lightby JPRComment: The mix of light and dark makes the image very dramatic. I also love the golden tones. A small baby and mother clutched together while seeminly interrupted during nursing is a subject that is going to make most people melt and go awwww. A very touching shot. |

Paradise Lostby scalvertComment: To start you have a good exposure, which is the most important with apes. You've got good details in the fur and face, and the eyes are shiny with good catchlights. The diagonal he is laying in as well as the wood carries the eye easily through the image. It looks like he is an adolescent so the pose would be typical and shows a glimpse of personality. The background is well blurred and complimentary to the image, not giving away signs of being taken in the zoo. The only nitpick are the white areas at the top that keep trying to pull my eyes toward them as they are the lightest area of the frame. |

Snowy Egretby waterliliesComment: Looks almost like a painting! The warm colors are very inviting, has a very autumn/fall feel to it. The soft focus also adds a somewhat dreamy feel to the image also. The reflection adds a somewhat symmetrical feel to the shot, and the composition is wonderful. Only nitpick is the exposure, which is really difficult with these birds, as it looks like you've blown the highlights on the top of the body. |

Squirrelby agbertComment: Hrm, the colors may be correct, but the image looks like it has a bluish cast. It also lacks contrast. It tells a story of urban wildlife, though, and you've managed to catch it as it grabs a drink in the puddle, which gives it interest and makes it slightly different from the norm. |

Night Workerby scrooslooseComment: Good muted coloring. The image seems a little soft but I can still see the texture in some of the feathers. Owls are known for their big eyes and it is one of their definiing features. In this shot the eyes are very dark and receded and you cant really see them. As this was an advanced challenge, cloning out the two branches on the right may have helped a little too as they seem to be growing out of the owl's back. |
