Hello from critique club :)

Veeeeery tight DOF, cool. Nice colors, technically good. My problems with this photo are the angle of the composition, crop could be done better and drop could be straighter... and I believe post process is a bit overdone.

5.5 almost 5.6 is about right for this picture. I probably would give 5 or 4, and I would guessed overall would be around 5.2 5.3 tops.

Practice practice practice.

Good luck on your future challenges, never give up :)

Hello from critique club :)

Some people, most likely one of them was Art, gave 1's to everyone who doesn't meet the challenge. dang.

I checked your page, it's incredible that you only have one ribbon not more. But I believe they are on their way soon, just keep on trying.

Light house photo is a very impressive work. Technically perfect. White doesn't burn my eyes, I can see the details on the structure and dark areas don't scare me at all :P nice post process. Composition is perfect also. The reflection and rule of third here very nicely put. I would get you 8 or 9 if I did vote. 6.0 low score, as always for my taste, I would probably guessed it around 6.5 or 6.8

Good work, very good work :)

Hello from Critique Club :)

First, this is not one of your good work, although probably one of your best of the fast shots.

Technically, very good. Exposed right, sharp and clean.

Composition, very nice, right on the money of cropping job.

Post process also very good, the blur, frames... everything works very good together here.

Nothing bad to say about this photo, idea and execution is well. I probably would put something different in the background, pink reflections taking a bit attention away.

I would vote around 7 or 8 if I did vote. 5.9 is about correct score.

Keep up the good work, you don't need much critique, you seem like know what you're doing ;)

Hello from Critique Club :)

Technically, not bad. Nice contrast, I can see about everything without hurting my eyeballs LOL... which is good. Heart on the cup is definitely the attention point. What kicks me is the shadow of the handle. You should of touch that up, get rid of, kill it, painted... just take it out of there.

Composition is good, but I would definitely crop it more to get rid of the shadows on top left corner, and have the cup closer. San Diego is a nice place, I never been there but Melvin from Madagascar thinks so :P

5.4 probably where it should be. Lines are very nice by the way, good capture, nice idea. I actually like the cup in the shadow so it wouldn't create its own shadow... that would probably break the order there.

Overall a very nice improvement for your challenge photos, keep up the good work :)

Hello from Critique Club :)

Shoehorn? I don't care, I like this photo, and other photos you have on your page, great work.

Some said you should have some lights in the sky, like dusk, but I think it's great the way it is. Very sharp, very nice exposed, or fixed(!) whichever, but it does give me "wow" when I look at it first, and that's what you want from your photos... to make viewers go "wow"

I don't have much to say for this work, it's a nice photo, I can use this as my desktop background, very relaxing for my eyes (send me a large version of this please). Composition is very nice, cropped exactly what it should be.

Damn, DNMC people, kick them in their asses for giving such low points just because of that... I sometimes agree with DNMC but sometimes you have to be open minded, and appreciate the work, whatever it is.

Good luck on next challenges.

This would get 8 or 9 from me if I voted :)

Hello from Critique Club :)

I agree with Tlemetry's comment. The sky and the tree as main attraction and that would be great to see just the open view with bit more color adjustments, because I think hand here is on our way to see what we're missing :\

Technically is not a bad photo. Because hands are very close to the camera, you have some burns on top. middle is correctly exposed, nice sharp colors. here is what would get you a much better place in this challenge, if you or your friend lay down the ground, and pull your hands up with the same composition of the fingers and have only the tree in the heart, keep rest of the view out of your finger frames(!), it probably would look much cooler than a fast photo impression.

I checked your work before, those photos are great. You do have very nice ideas and composition; you do know which ones will make it and which ones won't... I like the idea of "just enter, and let's see what happens" mentality, keeps you learn more, believe it or not.

Good luck on your next challenge :)

Hello from Critique Club my friend :)

It is always nice to critique a friend's work, because they can't harm you if I kill their photos LOL ... well, at least I would like to think so :P

Nice capture, good composition. You can see the heart clearly, and you did emphasize with color adjustment and desaturation. I say good work, and it should never get any 2's or 3's... some picky DPCers hit you with 4's, but what can I say.

If I were you, I would have another shot of this tree, with shallower DOF, and make the background more blurry.

Other than that, I think it's a good photo, not an award winner, but you got it man, you did get your shot :)

Hello from critique club, once more :)

Too much light on the shirt, too little light on the object front of him. Sharp image... second light is coming from very nice angle but I wish it would be brighter.

The photo should tell what it is first look, but it doesn't. I had to compare to the challenge and read the title. Because everything else is too dark, I can't make up that light supposed to be coming from his heart.

I hate to give you a bad critique because idea is very good, little problem with the execution. Prash's comment and 10 probably correct when you look at this photo as another photo, very creative, nice sharp contrast, good posing... You may have people think about the photo and wonder a while surrounded with it's mystical image(!) well, deep meaning I should say.

If you can have another shot of this, for the fun of it, give more light to the front and keep the darkness in the background. You can even blend the shoulders into the dark, but give us more up front so we actually would know he is looking something in his jacket, and maybe put the light behind his vest, so it wouldn't look like he has a light bulb under his jacket.

Sorry for 5.5, this could be easily 6+ range with a little more care... for DPC I mean :\

Hello from critique club :)

Hey what'ya know, I get to critique your photo :D cool.

To start with this is not a 5.3 picture, worth more than that. So why didn't DPC give you better vote?

Composition is very nice. I like the spreading of the cards randomly, further cards out of focus which is also nice. Shadows and reflections are right on the money here. It truly matches the challenge, and it's quite of work to do this, some people just don't understand the work behind some of the photos.

Technically very good photo, I like it a lot. There are only few minor things that couth my eyes, but should not be the reason to give you 3 or 4 or 5s.

The edges of some of the cards you can see something was there and taken out with Photoshop. Just a point or two and right top corner card has more edge problem.

If I did vote, I would give 7 or minimum 6 to this photo.

Keep up the good work, nothing is wrong with you a lots of things wrong with DOC voters sometime, don't let it get under your skin.

Hello from Critique Club :)

Dr. Confuser seems like confused himself this time, or you were working on this photo while doing some upside down yoga!? :)

Advance editing lets you to clean the scratch on this lady's face, and actually basic editing even lets you rotate images, which you should be rotating this picture to earn few more votes... did you protest DPC or something LOL

Good macro photo. Sharp, very nice, I really love the quality of it, I like the crop, very simple and clean (well, besides the scratch on her face)

You got 5.5 because of the subject matter and the quality of this photo. If you didn't do yoga, you probably would get around 5.8 and maybe 6. who knows.

I looked at your page, and nice work you have there. You do also have lots of practice, but you must check out the previous winners and get some examples and try to replicate those just for study purpose. You are here for a long time, a ribbon long due for you, so go get one :)

Just don't do head-down yoga and photography same time LOL

Good luck
