A rose with two-lipsby parrotheadComment: A magnificent composition. The selective desaturation is brilliant and along with the soft focus and contrasty lighting makes this a period piece (30's, 40's, 50's). Only problem is that I do not see this as meeting the challenge theme. This is artistic as opposed to scientific representation, whiich I believe the challenge is about. Would be a 10 otherwise. |

A drop of liveby JohannesFrankComment: Love the golden tones and the lighting is very good and contrasty. This shot is more artistic than scientific representation and as such I don't believe it meets the challenge them 100%. Compositionally too centered and the two "bunny rabbit ears" shapes in the lower right compete for attention. |

bamboo and marblesby claudia26Comment: Very nice abstract with interesting colors and shapes but I don't think this meets the challenge theme. From the standpoint of being a pic outside of the challenge it's very good and original. The colors are very attractive, as are the shapes, and the glass through which it is shot adds an extra element of interesting texture. Would score very high with me in another appropo challenge. |

Lilyby BobsterLobsterComment: Beautifully saturated colors and I like the color contrast here. DOF is excellent. Composition is a mixed bag as I like the natural frame produced by the overarching foliage in the background, but the foliage below invades the space of the flower's stamens and is quite distracting. One more nit pick: there seems to be a leaf out of place in the upper left hand corner. |

Sunflowerby belleinsoucianteComment: The B&W seems such a disservice to the beautiful colors that I'm sure this scene affords. Contrast is a bit too high and detail is missing in both highlights and shadows. It's too bad because composition really looks good. |

WOUNDED: Eye of the Redwood Giantby aznymComment: Very nice textural study that you've captured well with interesting sweeping lines almost made into a pictorial element (eye). I would like to see a bit more space around the "eye" and a little more DOF (edges appear oof). Colors also appear a bit too processed and pushed almost unnatural. Lighting seems uneven and you could have possibly used some fill in the upper right to even things out. |

Botany Bay (well almost)by peeceeComment: Beautiful landscape and waterfall that you've exposed and composed very well. I just don't see this fitting the challenge theme. |

Radiant by Mary Ann MeltonComment: Beautiful flower/abstract. Wonderful color tones that are silky smooth. Composition has beautiful graceful lines and it's assymetricalness does not bore the eye. Really wonderful macro shot. Well done. |

Fire in Augustby newtune3Comment: Really nice vivid and bright colors. Color contrast is very good, as well as, DOF. A good picture depicting botony. |

3-D Botany II [DPC legal]by dsidwellComment: This image appears to be a cut out of a print leaving perspective very distorted. While the shapes have some interest (even with the distortion) the color is drab and leaves lack interesting detail. Lighting is too harsh, especially evident at the top. |
