Neat sculpture, but only marginally meets the challenge.

Comment:
I would suggest that the dog is the subject here, not the tree, which is cut off. The bright sky and muted tones nicely depict the dream quality, but it doesn't present the tree ideally.

looks over-sharpenned to me. The leaves look funky against the sky...

I see where you're going, but it would be more effective with less negative space in the sky. Maybe a pano? Still: 9

I would argue that the child, not the tree, is the main subject of this image. If the tree were the main subject it would not be cut off...

The tree is bearly visible against the background. The bright rocks and sky fooled your camera's light meter into into thinking the scene was better lit than it is. It would be better to use spot metering on the tree and then adjust the sky later if it is too blown-out.

I see that the tree is straight, but that should not be done at the expense of the horizon. Also, the dodge on the background is too extreme. It makes it look washed out and distracting. If you wanted to de-emphasize the background detail, I would suggest using burn to darken it. Bright areas tend to draw the eye and distract.

Too little is in focus and it it too dark. I expect that the twig is a tree, but you cannot tell because the bottom of it is entirely lost in the background. Longer DOF and more contrast in the foreground would help.

Nice, but it took too long to find the tree. The ravine is the salient feature of the image, not the tree. (At least to me...) Also, the sky looks like you cloned out a bunch of stuff and made an artificial horizon. Not that that is out of bounds for an advanced editing challenge, but it doesn't look right to me... more like some wierd fog was approaching than a true sky.
