Nicely done IR except for that ugly guy (me) in the lower left corner. Leaving the sky blue works well except I would eliminate it from the rest of the image.
Arizona is a great place for IR imaging. Stark landscapes taken in the early morning make for great IR images. You ever get out that way you might want to try it. - Steve

Very funny. DOF works great. Nicely done. I would recommend placing the cactus further to the right or cropping off more of the right side better balance. The lense cap placement is a distraction and could be eliminated from the composition al together.
This certainly brings back vivid memories of my experience. The prickly pear fruit you pictured here looks exactly like the ones I lived on. The fruit is very tasty with a lot of moisture. The down side is it contains a lot if seeds. The deep red stains I got on my hands washed right off, though. The tiny fuzzy looking balls on the outside of the fruit contain bunches of tiny cilia-like spines that always kept getting poked in my fingers and lips while eating and I spent a lot of time afterward picking them out. Ouch!
Btw... I didn't have any toilet paper. You can imagine how much fun that must have been. :) - Steve

Nice silhouette, good perspective and sharpness. Great job.
Your subject looks about as crazed as I felt during my excursion into the unknown. The area where I was at has had a lot of mining activity and there are many unprotected, open mining shafts all over the place. You could easily fall into one and be unable to get out. The only ones I saw were deep and had rats in them. - Steve

Beautiful location and well composed image. The view from behind supports your concept well. The main subject placement within the frame at the rule of thirds lower right intersection point perfectly fits the composition and the lake placement within the frame adds viewer interest. Nicely done!
However, I was not wearing lavender underwear during my sojourn into nature. LOL! - Steve

Old weatherworn buildings will always be fruitful subjects for photography. It does not seem to matter what angles, lighting conditions or perspective you take, they always seem to fascinate. Yours is no exception. This one has good tones and interest in the grain of the wood. You might consider either a complete B&W conversion or leaving muted color only withing the window frame.
Heck, I would have liked to have found a building of any sort for shelter. There was a blazing hot sun out during my walkabout. ;) - Steve

Excellent concept that fits the challenge well. Framing and placement of the subject is good. The scene itself and the subject's inclusion in it is very well conceived. The view from behind shows how the subject is "chillin'" but leaves the viewer wondering what he is thinking.
Color seems a bit off and weighted toward the red and magenta. Looks like it needs a color correction aplied. In Photoshop this can be done using a 'curves' adjustment for the red channel by just dragging the centerpoint lower and to the right. This will tone down the red and bring out more green. 'selective color' can be used to reduce the intensity of the magenta of the ground only for a more natural look.
It is true I was "chillin'" while lost but in a much less friendly place from this. I'd much rather have been here, especially with all that nice water, shade and a real place to sit. Where I was it got upwards of 104-108 degrees (40-42 Celsius) every day, there was little shade, food and every plant had thorns. Finding water was a bit tricky and it tasted bad. And it was hard to find comfortable rocks to sit on. :) Other than that, it was just like you pictured it. ;) LOL!!! - Steve

Looks like the Oregon coast during a low tide. Like how the beams of sunshine are struggling to break though the fog.
I was a long distance runner in high school and and always enjoyed running at the beach. I attended college on an athletic scholarship and ran for years after I graduated college. I credit my background in running for being able to properly pace myself and not overexert. I hiked between 4-7 miles each day despite the extream heat conditions and felt OK. - Steve

An excellent black and white image. Beautiful location. The way the tones change from black at the bottom to near white at the top makes for an eye appealing composition.
The mountains where I was lost were considerably smaller, more like an unending set of washes and gullies than anything else. No snow where I was. :) - Steve

Nice angled perspective and decent technical quality.
I think the dark, dank recesses of the urban jungle are more treacherous and unforgiving than the Sonoran desert in the heat of summer. Glad I was stranded there rather than in the urban jungle. I see there was an ambulance waiting to take me to the hospital when I emerged just as actually occurred. :) - Steve

Now you are talking. Indeed there was a brew or two waiting after I emerged from the depths of forced desert prohibition. Selective desaturation can work well and I think is especially appropriate in this case. :) - Steve
