Hi Mark. A very symmetrical and well thought out image, good idea. The decision to go black and white worked. The DOF is deep, everything fully in focus, the detail is fantastic. What strikes me first when I look at this photo is the amazing contrast. The blacks and whites are so subtle!

The composition is good, the angle works here. I think a straight on shot wouldn't have had as much impact. The only thing I would have changed is the crop. Everything in this photo is so symmetrical except for the crop which you can see on the outer ring of the dartboard. I would have cropped it more evenly.

Hi Rob. I'm glad I got given this one to critique, I gave it a 9 in the challenge. A very clever idea and very well composed, I liked this one as thumbnail and when I clicked the full image I wasn't disappointed. The colors are amazing, the lighting perfect and the challenge met fully. Rotational symmetry is also symmetry :-)

Not much to criticise here really. There is a little graininess in the image but in my opinion it works here. The black hole is a little off-center but you can't really see it with the eye if you look casually at it. (I used a ruler he he).

A very good image which you can be proud of, 13th place from 228 entries is excellent, and your best score yet, congratulations.

Architectural Harmony

Hello Joy. Congratulations on finding such an excellent subject for the symmetry challenge. The composition is very good, especially with the flagpole being exactly in the middle. The reflections are amazing. The green of the hedge breaks the blue/white color harmoniously. Good job!

A couple of things I'd change would be that the whole image seems to be tilted to the left. A slight rotation in the post processing would have fixed this or maybe holding the camera more level when taking the shot would have helped. Also I would have cropped out the sidewalk, it is a little distracting.

I don't think the image is too bright as has been mentioned in the comments below, but maybe the saturation could have been tweaked to bring out the colors more.

All in all this is a fantastic image and you can be proud of it.

Fruit Face

First impressions: I smiled :-) Setup well, focus and DOF good and very colorful, in fact this image would also fit this week's "color" challenge perfectly!

The exposure is bang on and the lighting not too harsh. Although this doesn't represent a perfect symmetry you have met the challenge.

The paper at the bottom of the image seems to have come apart a little and light is shining through, which is a little disturbing as it keeps pulling my eye downwards. Also it seems that the fruit has lost some of its freshness, maybe because you had it there for too long before you got a photo you were satisfied with.

All in all a clever idea which you can be proud of.
