Edinburgh Castle - Scotlandby agwrightComment: Nice postcard shot, good composition and framing too. For some reason I get the feeling the whole image is leaning to the left, don't you? |

The Three Sistersby p_johnsComment: Ahhh Australia! Now this is a good composition. Mind you I wouldn't have gotten as close to the edge as you did there! It would have been good to see those greens brought out a bit more, but I guess that is difficult without the sun shining. And you can't do anything to change the weather right? It is a typical postcard shot, yep! |

Thanksgiving Point Fallsby YomiComment: This is an excellent image, the effect of the prolonged shutter speed is bang on. Very idyllic and inviting. The kind of photo I would expect to find on a postcard promoting the area you live in. However, I personally find the texting you have chosen doesn't fit to this image. |

Weird New Jersey... The Caves of Insanity...by WILDBLUEComment: The play of light and shadows is very interesting here. The black and white effect is also good highlighting those greens more. Personally I would have tried to find a position where you either wouldn't have the trees on each side, or used them as some kind of natural framing for your image. |

Divinityby magnusComment: Good idea with the natural framing. The composition is good, the text doesn't distract from the main image, and on top of all that you caught yourself a nice sunny day too. |

Feathered Ratby GeneralEComment: Critique Club:
Hi Paul, I got your pic to critique :-) The first thing that struck me when I looked at this pic is the sharpness of the pigeon's eye and that it seemed to be looking directly at me. It is amazing how you captured that eye, the color is a wonderful deep red/orange and it is definitely the focal point of your image.
As I mentioned below in my original comment the motion blur on the wings is very effective and works well with the in-focus body and head.
The car in the background is somewhat distracting though and it was just unfortunate that it was driving past at the moment you shot the pigeon. You could have blurred it out a little by reducing your shutter speed to between 1/30 and 1/60, which is usually the best panning speed. This would taken the background into a motion blur but at the same time would have created too much motion blur on the pigeon's wings.
Maybe it would just have been best to ask the pigeon to do a series of fly-by's until you got the correct exposure in :-)
All in all a very good pic which is mirrored by the 5.6 score it received. Well done.

Boonton Fallsby ladpupmoeComment: This is a good nature shot, wild water and rocks; typical postcard. However, some of the naturalness of the photo is decreased by the inclusion of the power pole and lines in the background. Maybe it would have been impossible to take this shot without that background but I'm sure a slight change in your position could have excluded the powerpole on the right hand side. Other than that, a top image. |

1910 Hand Colored Postcardby autoolComment: It really does resemble a painted photo. I really like the position you chose to take this pic, the composition is awesome. The stormy sky out the back breaks up the dominant brown color perfectly. You can be proud of this photo. What is bothersome to me is the "Wish you were here" text. Personally I would have left it out completely. Or if you really wanted it to be included I would have placed it in the lower lefthand corner. |

Sudbury, Ontario. Home of the world's largest nickelby BigSmilesComment: Now this is a typical postcard shot, you're on the right track here! You were lucky getting that crispy blue sky with amazing cloud formations in the background to increase the quality of you pic! I particularly like the perspective you chose for this. |
