cultivating an ideaby posthumousComment: I was just thinking you need a posthumous clone if you're going to get proper recognition for this jewel, then I saw you got an upsydaisy award. Congrats. Earned. |

Stray flowerby snafflesComment: According to my encyclopedic knowledge of flora (me and the encyclopedias have an agreement about who needs to know all that stuff), this is the same sort of death-defying pansy as I have in my all-time highest scoring shot - self seeded and magnificently failing to respond to our messages about how it is not required to grow this year.
It's a great shot and it smacks the challenge description right between the eyes. Seriously under- appreciated. |

Street Duo - Nicollet Mall, Minneapolisby choltmeierComment: You got people points from me. It's an odd sort of category, 'cityscapes'. It sort of means urban landscape photography, which gives you all the skyline shots, fair enough... But it's not really a city without people, is it?
Great shot. Long may they busk. |

Storm's Endby linnyComment: No whites and no blacks. Not high contrast. I know that's pragmatic, or something, but even so this is way off the mark.
Apart from that it's a nice sky shot. |

The End is the Beginningby benjamin7472Comment: There are very dark shadows and very light highlights, but everything that matters in this picture is in a wide range of middle tones. Thus it fails to be a high contrast photograph for me. |

Intenseby just_meComment: Good idea and it does contain black that's black and white that's white. You could have pushed it further (IMO) and it might even have come close to matching the title... |

Through the Treesby brownsmComment: I think the core of the picture - the barn etc - is all about the mid tones and thus detracts from the whole as a hi contrast picture. Fascinating effect on the foliage though. I think I'd be tempted to crop just above the barn roof and lose the bottom half of the picture. Don't worry though, despite my complaining I'm not giving you a low score (not telling you what the score is either). |

Triangularby banmornComment: Has all the potential for high contrast and then avoids it. Odd, that. |
