No Picnic Today (Day 14)by colorcarnivalComment: Here's what I see Michelle, first I really like the foreground - interesting and leads us into the picture, especially the diagonal of the table buried into the sand, I also like the sttrong diagonals from the (almost) LL corner to the mid-1/3 on the R and back again with the shore line, which carries us into the picture. I especially like how you've repeated the shoreline diagional with the waves. Here's what I would change in a perfect world - foreground - needs to be cleaned up, especially the two boards coming from the R and going against the curves you've established. Second, the dark blob at the upper R corner is not adding to the picture at all. Finally I'd like something to carry us into the background, the small open space on the L almost makes it but the fairly hard horizon line tends to block that a bit.
Forgot to add, technically I don't really see a problem, I do tend to prefer a slower shutter speed - say 1/15 to blur the waves, but of course thats personal preference. Sorry, I keep coming back.. the other thing that would be nice would be a bit more contrast and drama in the sky. You have these great diagonals that carry us there, but then not much is happening. Perhaps a layer with some curves or dodging and burning would help.
Overall an interesting picture and you've got some great ideas here, keep working Jack. Message edited by author 2007-05-17 20:14:15. |

Day 13by dreamyComment: Missing the hand is not that big a deal, you definately got the most important part -- his face, arms and the bottom loop of the cable, that's what make's this an exceptional photgraph. There is such a nice, beautiful rhythm to this, I really like it. You're doing fantastic work.

Day 18 - Modernby meneleComment: The sky is great - you're right, and you'v done a fantastic job in procesing it. I like the implied dynamic diagonal lines all leading from the ur corner to the lower L corner. The building unfortunately tends to go against that with an opposite flow and so it doesn't quite work for me.

Day 17 - Pathby meneleComment: Nice shot, I really like the areas of alternating bright and dark along the path, both the lamp and the bright area in the trees tend to draw me away though. The may have been a bit more drama to have the path start in the corner too.

Day 16 - Shadowby meneleComment: I like the idea, but it gets lost in the whole picture with a fairly bright foreground, areas of high contrast ( the wall and the door).
I'd look for a pov that helps to separate the shadow from these areas.

Day 18 - Backyard Poppyby jonfrommkComment: Nice sharp focus, I like the water droplets to add some interest. I don't reallyc are for the background here though, it's a bit distracting.
