This is a well-planned shot, and it shows that sometimes Ken Rockwell is right. Good choice of focus, nice colours, and good composition. Although it seems like it's been done before here, it remains extremely original. You did a great job of eliminating the folded down pieces of paper in the middle; overall, an image that certainly deserved a top 10 finish!

This is a well composed shot, and you clearly understand the effectiveness of the aperture you selected. Great background choice, with a nice level of saturation in the grass. The only reason I can think of that this didn't score higher is that it's not necessarily as exciting (i.e. doesn't have the "wow" factor) of some of the other submissions.

Overall, well done!
