It's generally not a good idea to split the composition down the middle with the horizon.

I voted a 6. If the blown-out hightlight in the top left corner of the photo wasn't there, I would have voted higher.

I wish the bright spot at the top portion of the bulb wasn't blown-out.

A Sleeping Puppy is a GOOD Puppy

Comment:
The lighting is a bit harsh, but I understand that you probably didn't have enough time to set up (didn't want to wake the puppy). However, a little tissue over the flash would have diffused the light enough to remove the sharp shadows.

A neutral-density filter would have worked wonders (eliminated blow-out) on the sky and sun. Otherwise, this is a very nice composition.

Drying the Good China

Comment:
It's tough to avoid those blown-out areas on the side of the cup and edge of the saucer with harsh lighting (such as from direct sun), but the focus is sharp and the blue sky makes the china really "pop".

Great subject and title, but I wish the size of the entry was up to the DPC maximum recommended size (640 px on the largest dimension) so I can inspect it closer.

Ha! I think I recognize that backdrop--white gift wrap from Michaels? :-) Oh, and by the way, I like the twist.
