I planned to take a simple shot of my china for "good" but I was afraid it would be too boring. Don't know how the idea hit me to hang it on a clothes line to "dry". Tim encouraged me to try it (and he held the two ends of the clothes line - outside in 8 degrees F no less with a killer windchill - is that true love or what?!!!).

Not pleased at all with the focus but I couldn't keep reshooting in those weather conditions...numbing. The harsh sunlight and the awkward positions we had to be in to get a clean sky as the background made this challenging in the intense cold.

Shot in Raw. Elements - hue/saturation, unsharp mask, selective color, levels, neat image, crop, border, save for web.

Nice and creative Aimee...seems the idea really paid off for you...I like the simplicity and quirkiness of the photo...it's something you don't see everyday, and as you say, a picture of the cup and saucer on its own would have been boring...well done!

Great finish, and to think it looks like a lovely warm sunny day for drying the good china! (In my family, when we refer to using "the good china", it means paper plates.)

It's tough to avoid those blown-out areas on the side of the cup and edge of the saucer with harsh lighting (such as from direct sun), but the focus is sharp and the blue sky makes the china really "pop".
