At first it looks a little underexposed, but upon closer inspection the light is just subtle and accurate, rather than lighting everything, it's lighting along the pathway, leading to a nice highlighted finish.

I think light is the single most important thing to do with photography, and here the lighting is just brilliant, perfect for the subject matter.

Well done. Great exposure to retain all that you did.

I agree with you comment on kids having camera's, i'm sure there would be some more interesting shots.
Good shot, i think the depth of field is perfect, if the background was excessively blurred, the shot would lose most of it's charm.

I like it, but i think it might work a bit better if it was taken a bit wider, to show more of the beach.
The cramped crop kinda goes against the 'freeness' to me.

Stunning.
Especialy the choice to duotone, which is a rare one for a portrait of this kind i think.
I think the composition is slightly cramped, but the changes i'd suggest would be minor, just to take a few distractions out of the scene to try and simplify it a little.
