When I first looked at this I thought, "Fried Mushroom". The ride looks somewhat like a mushroom, at thumbnail level size. The fast fried mushroom ride. The lights captured the motion well.

In hindsight, which has less value. You could have named it "Light-Fright, Revenge of the Plumber". This looks like a suspenseful scene from a scary movie. The plumbing tool he's holding could be an ice pick.
Great suspenseful lighting.

Good angle, shows dynamic movement.
I would have liked to see more shadows and lights on the face and hat.

And less highlight/contrast of the boom-microphone, which is distracting. The boom-mic pipe may be covered with black duct-tape temporarily or edited in post-processing.

A lighter backgroud for the upper-body and face would emphasize the singer. That would balance the great contrasts. Right now the quantity and brighness of the guitar is what my eyes are first drawn to. If you're selling guitars, then its a different story.

'Iron Butterfly' Rejected Album Art idea #142nd Place

"Great Job.", I agree with the last comment "Cool" idea with a hot subject.

Just like the band's title, it was suposed to show the juxtaposition of their diverse musical sounds or in life. This is a very emotive composition of two dissimilar objects. Like opposites attract and must exist. Color and almost desaturated iron. Definitely meets the challenge description. Is the monarch's name "Iron-ic"?

Butterflies are tough as Iron. This Monarch is "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" now.

Yes, It's October again. A great month for flying objects becoming winners. Is it? Remember "White-on-White", a year ago? #14 must be a lucky number, too.

I didn't vote in this challemnge. It definitely is a soft pastel, with good composition and appealing subject. I like it better than the third place bird. Maybe experiment with the technique the that one used to alter just the background darker or a different color tone.

I agree if the ear wasn't in focus it would be even better. Maybe a fog machine or some digital fog, if it were aloud, or spot blurring would easily adjust that aspect.

The beautiful hair is more emphasized by being less softly focused.
The body is soft focused and looks great, almost like a charcoal drawing. Great work, keep on shooting.

Great post-processing job, but that alone is never enough. The initial composition and concept is also noteworthy.

Congratulations, you have MET-THE-CHALLENGE, fear is not a factor. In 1st place the camera is not in the limelight or the main subject. Although, maybe a girl's leg covering the doorknob could've gotten this one to 1st.

The burled wood add the luxury and elegance of a Rolls Royce dashboard.

The handle could represent the way to open the door to a whole new universe from the veiwpoint of the camera. :)

Some Black/White shots are still a "Classic", congratulations, nice compositeion.

So if this is a mirror, why is the word "LENS" and "24-70mm" not spelled backwards? How did you do that?
