this is a big improvement over the original. better composition and lighting, and i think that the clouds in the background really help add a lot and they're loads better than the original's washed out sky. all in all - a very attractive image.

wow, it took me a second to realize what was in the background - the mountains look so soft and the highlights made them look like gossamer curtains. this is a nice photo and i think it could be improved if the line forming the distant edge of the lake was along the bottom line of thirds to frame the boat subject better against the mountains in the background.
