Christmas Time Is Hereby jenaromComment: Great use of freespace, and color. Good choice with the all white plain background. Great composition. The only thing that bothers me is having only one branch out of focus but all the others in focus. I maybe would have cut off that piece for a cleaner looking photo. Nice job though! |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment: Very nice Candid, and very interesting with the (photo?) behind this guy. You really did a nice job here, and choosing to put it in black and white was a great idea! Personally I think it may have been more effective if you would have cropped off more of the top, possibly to right above his head, but thats just me. Good luck! - 8 |

Crackedby jgillardComment: Critique Club
First off congrats on your first submission... it's exciting when you get those first week's results back!
Composition - The main focal point is very centered in this picture, which usually isn't desirable in photography. I think had you moved the egg and silly putty somewhere else in the picture (rule of thirds) it might have made for a more interesting photo. I also think that the main subject could have filled the frame a lot more. As it is it doesn't do much, visually.
Exposure - don't really see anything wrong with this, looks ok to me.
Color - the colors are vibrant blue, very pretty, and you caught them pretty well.
Focus - your focus is really good. No problems there.
Background - your background is very distracting, not only is it blue, and competeing for attention with the intended subject, but also it is very in focus. I would have suggested, maybe something pure white to really make the blue egg and putty stick out!
Fit for challenge - all blue, what can I say?
Lighting - the lighting is uneven, and very bright on some spots. It's hard not having a studio, or the setup to take a good picture in. Believe me, I know... I'm at college
Wowability - I don't see much here... it just doesn't catch me
Final Comments - good job.... try the shot over, and experiment... it can be a real learning experience... and besides its digital, your not wasting any film :-) Good luck!

Stoned Blueby kosmikkreeperComment: Critque Club
Hi Kosmikkreeper...
Composition - nice job placing the main subject in the corner and not in the middle. It makes for a much nicer looking photo.
Exposure - the exposure looks a little light on the ear and hair, but I'm not sure whether thats due to the desaturation or not... The earing looks very well exposed.
Color - interesting what you did here with the color saturation... I really like the way the earing stands out! Nice job with that. The only thing I would say is that the picture looks a tad bit grainy to me...
Focus - pretty good job on focus... maybe just a tad soft, but not much.
Background - like I said, i love the way you brought out the blue earing by desaturating everything else... Looks great!
Fit for Challenge - doesn't give me a feeling of blue, though there is some blue in it... It fits well enough in the literal sense of the challenge.
Lighting - I like the lighting here... the light spot on each bead is cute, and there are no obviously blinding flashes of bright.
Wowability - It's a nice picture, but it doesn't really catch my eye as much as a lot of the others. It's not the most interesting subject in the world, and I think you may have lost a few points for that.
Final Comments - overall not bad. It's a pleasing photo to look at, and its a good learning aid for those working with saturation etc. Nice job!

Like Days Through a Drinking Glass, So Are The Days of Our Livesby TurbotechComment: The reflections in the glass are slightly annoying, but I love the reapeating glasses, and the blue colors you have here... also Like the background. The lighting is quite bright at the top on the rim of the glass, but it's not a bad photo. Good focus, and very interesting the way you've done this. Good LUCK! |

Absolute Zeroby KonadorComment: I love the variances in blue in this picture. Also it is a very interesting perspective, especially with the coil, which leads your eye very nicely. Good job on not having the light too powerful. This must have been a cold picture to take! It looks a little dark to me, with little contrast, but thats understandable. Overall nice job, and good luck!

A Melancholy Songby indigo997Comment: This is a very nice picture... though she looks really cold from the lighting! Brrrr... I definely would suggest moving her over a little, to get in the whole mandolin, and maybe softer lighting because the shadow is distracting. Cute picture though. Good luck with it! -Ridergal |

Water slideby jenaromComment: Cute and good use of a small object, to try and make a person think of a large object. I like the white background, and you have a nice clean focus... The thing that may have made it more interesting would to have been water flowing throw the straw. Nice job! And good Luck! |

Blue Rockets Over the Red Riverby goodtempoComment: Do you do fireworks for thanksgiving!? Overall a fairly nice fireworks picture... good stopping of action... and I like the blue. I would have tried to not have it quite so centered when I cropped, and due to the name, I would have liked to have seen part of the river or something. Good luck! |
