Alone With Natureby bruster54Comment: Nice job with your composition. I don't feel this is a really sporty idea photo though. There is just not enough action for me to be interested in it. Plus she is WAY too far away for me to feel close to the subject whatsoever. I think sports photos are made their best either through action or through emotion or both. Although I see what you were going for with the rule of thirds, I think this photo has WAY too much water in it.. and like half of it could have been cropped out. Thats my two cents. |

Screen Pass (This is not cropped or posed ... just lucky.) by sigs10Comment: Great catch! I know you say you didn't crop, but I think it might have been nice if you had cropped just a tiny bit off the top, not a big deal though. Great look on the kids face, great action, might have been nice to have another player maybe coming up from behind to show it was during a game rather then just a game of catch or whatever, but thats ok. I love the tattoo... adds to the "toughness" of the photo. -9- |

An Eagle Runningby BigMoComment: Hehehe kiddie football always fun to watch and shoot. This is cute, shows some fairly good action, might have been nice to see one of the guys in yellow a little closer but it's not a big deal. I think you could have cropped down almost to the top of the guy in yellow's helmet, as well as some of the left to the farthest guys foot. Nice job getting the ball in the photo. |

Off The Lip by ScottKComment: Cool, nice job getting closer to the action. I wish I could see more of the guys face, and that he was more at the peak of the action rather then being what looks at like the end of it. I like the redness of his shorts which draws your eye to him rather then anything else. I think cropping some off the top might have given it a little higher look because the water behind him looks flat. |

Practice Practice Practiceby ShannonComment: It bothers me that the ball is just barely in the photo... I'm wondering if you cropped it this way on purpose or whether thats just how the shot was. I think you could have taken a lot more shots to get that better. I wish the club were already coming down rather than just up on his shoulder, giving the viewer more of a clue about what was going to happen. I think you might have been able to fix a little of the white sky by using a polzarizing filter, but I'm not sure. |

Hippie Hoop Starby ColeyComment: I like this, it's cute... Love that van behind the girl also :-) It looks to me like you tried to sharpen this photo WAY too much? Is that why it looks kind of jagged around all the edges, or it could have happened during compression. I think I would have liked a faster shutter speed on this one to get stop action on the hand and ball, you might have achieved this by speeding up the iso, or since it's outdoors and you didn't have to worry about using a flash, one of those might have helped. I like the reflections also in the van. |

Aerobatics - Stunt Flyingby MorganComment: Very Cool subject. I would have made this more of a vertical photo, and cropped out some of the extraneous blue on the left, right and tops of the photos. This also would have helped with composition which is rather bland here with the subject almost directly in the middle. I like your cach here a lot! I'm wondering whether you used a polarizing filter or not... that is one VERY blue sky! |

Bull's-eyeby kostiaComment: There's lots of noise in this photo... which isn't altogether bad, but I'm guessing you had a pretty high ISO? Nice movement in the dart... too bad it's not exactly a bulls-eye (or is it?) hard to tell. The line at the top, which I'm guessing is part of the wall is rather distracting... I think you could have achieved the same photo by cropping out some of the top, at the same time not putting the main subject directly center for a better rule of thirds look. |

Paddlingby NatatorComment: I wish you could see this a little closer, but I realize there were probably zoom limitations. I think I would have liked a little more action as well, maybe some water coming off the oar, or more of a pathway where the boat had been... it looks to be moving rather slowly. Good subject though... |

Youth Soccer... best when soggyby DiamondPeteComment: This is cute, nice DOF with getting the umbrella in focus as well as the players. I like how you frame the game with the umbrella. I would have liked to have seen your shutter speed just a bit higher maybe, because the main boy doesn't look to be in focus, but I'm guessing he's just blurry. I think you could have cropped out the two playerss on the left and still had the same effect. Tighter is often better in sports shots. |
