Church Doorsby inspzilComment: i do like the symmettry on this. i dont like that the pic seems a hair tilted to the right and that right edge is cut off unequally. and that the right edge is dark. I'm not sure how much the filter does for this pic. I think I might have rather seen it leveled and either in color or toned using the channel mixer. |

Hilarious shot. The bachelor's fridge!
This is a great story picture. How could we improve it?
Mostly, I think the lighting is a bit too harsh and glarey. You need to soften the light a bit. But how? Shine through tissue paper. OR point the light away at something white and reflective like a piece of paper so it bounces back.
Maybe also arrange the cheese so it's more clearly cheese? Try a brick?

Wanna Cookie?by karmatComment: Critique Club
YES YES I DO WANT A COOKIE. Man that looks so appetizing!
Lighting: A bit harsh and strong. What you need to do is not point your clamps directly at the subject but rather away at a piece of white cardboard. This will cause the light falling on your subject to be a lot more diffuse, and less glarey.
Focus: The front lip of the glass is in focus but the cookie is not. It's not enough out of focus that it looks like a cool DOF effect. A smaller aperature (bigger #) would have helped here.
Composition: The placement of the cookie is kind of confusing. Because it's slightly overlapping it's kind of hard to tell if it's in the mouth of the glass or behind the glass. The DOF thing adds to this. I'd like it not overlapping or more fully overlapping.
Great shot!! You made me break out the Chunky Chips Ahoy! |

Gold Blend by NatashaComment: CRITIQUE CLUB REVIEW
Excellent picture with a great mood and a very professional feel to it. Part of that comes from the quality of the surface it's on, and the other part comes from the very soft differential lighting on the milk bottles.
A few possibilities you could try:
a) a lower angle looking more less down on the bottles
b) more empty space at the top of the screen
c) a little less empty space at the bottom
d) another angle from the more the front of the line and lower.
great shot i think it could be in advert! |
