From the (un-qualified member of the) critique club:

Now, I am not a stickler for rules (most of which don't belong in art, but i digress) but it might help to crop this image up using the rule of thirds. I certainly love the idea and like the detail that you've captured here (in the sand, water) but constructively speaking, the image could use a crop to help the viewer smoothly consider the content since its (seemingly) meant to be open; I like the zen-like simplicity you've presented here.

I also like the vastness that you've captured with the clouds and the visual detail of the landmasses on the far side of the water.

Great work; happy shooting!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

The composition is really nice. It is framed well but could use a little tweaking with the crop. Following the rule of thirds (which can be broken--I know), I would scoot the windmill over to the left, and allow a tad more room at the top. These are minor issues comparatively.

Focus and DOF are good.

The biggest problem with this photo is the exposure. Most users, as I have found it, like to see nice even histograms with vivid color. The contents in this photo seems to be good candidates for these elements. I know the environment (setting of sun, or rising; I can't tell) may not be easy to accomplish this and fight the underexposure.

Also, the streak right next to the windmill blade is a little distracting as it seems out of place.

The big picture: I think you were on the right track with this photo, but with the challenging environment yielding some technical errors this photo performed mediocre in the challenge.

Keep up the good work though, do not get discouraged. Keep shooting!

WAAAAAY under-rated.. This puppy flies in my book. I love the details in the hills/trees. But the competition was steep nonetheless. This just made my day...
