301_0563week 42.jpgby salmiakkiComment: Not at all like I would have expected to see a Chicago city street. Not that I would know since I've never been, but it appears quiet here even with the vehicles rushing by.
I do like the way you convert to b&w. There's a richness to the scene even without colour. |

Aspireby MelethiaComment: Am I the only one who didn't know this was yours? ;) I thought it was pretty special and the title is cheeky-cool-clever.
Over 200 tons of pigeon poo? Where'd it go? lol |

The Great Tobacco Hornworm Takes His Bowby bs-photosComment: Originally posted by yanko: Originally posted by rinac: I wonder why so many people think insects are not animals, let alone wildlife??? In any event, this was one of my top picks, congratulations on a fine finish! |
I don't think many would argue with you in general but this challenge was pretty clear on it if you read the challenge description. Regardless, DPC should just get rid of the descriptions. Nobody reads them anyway. |
I took the challenge description to be giving an example of wildlife, not to mean only those species specifically listed.
Well I guess that rules out fish too huh, since they're also animals not mentioned in the description? |

Tiger Fightby scooter97Comment: Hi Scott, it is a lovely shot - "cutesy" I'd say :)
A few issues I had with it though, are: underexposure, possible incorrect white balance (the whites look blue), noise in the shadows, and not getting the "tiger fight" feel at all due to the angle and tight crop.
Some things to keep in mind: play with your white balance and really look at the changes it makes to your photograph - Set to Cloudy will 'warm' up images, and set to Sunny will 'cool'; experiment with different angles - low down looking upward or at eye level with your subject will give it an extra something, and a wider crop (particularly in this instance) will help viewers understand the complete story when there is one you want to tell.
If you really want critique as opposed to comments, best to post in the forums afterward or ask for a Critique Club comment when submitting to a challenge.
Hope this helps! |

One-legged Preenerby BeckyTComment: Wow, you were robbed. And when those robbers finished robbing, some more came to rob you again. Flip :(
Anyways, just thought I'd swing by and let you know I thought this was wonderful. I too imagined the bird to be standing on a dead sunflower, giving the illusion that he is somehow miniaturised. Or perhaps the bird is alone on an alien world where plants are gigantic.
Beautiful. |
