Ivy Xingby GotchyaComment: Critique Club
Hello there.
Meets the challenge somewhat, IMO, I think the addition of the sign may have hurt you in this case, don't get me wrong, I like it, but for this particular challenge I think people were looking for au-natural :)
Composition:
Very good, the inclusion of the sign is an addition, tells me that there is no way I could park here anyways, kind of makes it comical.
Lighting:
Is very nice on the ivy, good contrast too. The upper right hand corner is washed out, probably due to high noon or overcast SF day :).
Focus and DOF are pretty good, but could be improved to make the sign tack sharp with a smaller aperature or focusing halfway down the ivory to achieve more DOF.
One thing that distracts my eye is the pink blob on the ivy leaf, looks like someone spit on it :P Didn't you bring your pruning shears? ;)
Very nice on a different perspective, you obviously have an eye for photography, keep up the good work and good luck on future challenges! |

Lily Lightby KazComment: Hello from the CC Club
My first impression of this shot was the lighting, it is very dramatic and pleasently different, a bit too bright in spots which makes it lose detail in the petals though.
The background is a little grey on my screen, might benefit from a bit more black which might have brought out more detail in the stem/leaves.
The green stripe on the right is distracting and would benefit from being cloned out.
A nice composition, perhaps a slightly higher position to see a bit more of the stamen.
Overall a nice photo that I can imagine hanging on a wall.
Good luck with future challenges.

DPC: Universally The Best.by BigSmilesComment: Canadian flag first? Don't you know by now that the American flag should always be first :) Just kidding. The flags are a bit bright, maybe lowering the opacity would be better. |

At the soccer gameby jjbeguinComment: Heavy story. Not sure I like the treatments to the photos, but it still is a strong tryptic. |

Sunset Blue...by andrewlrComment: very nice collection of shots. I like the way you put them together too. The only nit pic is the corners on the middle shot, they look too computerized, IMO. |

Ebb and Flowby KarenBComment: Very nice, shows a story well. The shots are a bit grey and could use some more contrast. |

Stillnessby NatashaComment: I like your presentation. Nice photos that would stand out on their own individually too. To me the water motion does not represent "stillness", but that's just me. |

Tulips in the Sunby TerryGeeComment: hey, that's the same shot flipped! Clever. Love the color/DOF and exposure of the one on the right. |

Breaking Free by FranziskaLangComment: Great concept and executed well. The one thing that bothers me is that the text box is deep black and there doesn't seem to be any deep black in your images. Either add more black to your shots or tone down the black in your text box. |
