Debuggingby C-FoxComment: Ah, those in the business will understand this image. It's where the term comes from. I think you may have pushed past your camera's limits with this image. You have either cropped into a smaller area of the image, or the macro capabilities of your camera don't allow focus at this close of a distance. Your overall composition isn't bad, but you have all your elements bringing the eye to the center of the image. The angle of the tweasers, the moth, then the 3 round things all make for a very center weighted image. Your choice of lighting is probably a standard indoor light. You may want to see if your camera has a custom white balance for the type of lighting you used. Your image has the typical yellow tint to it due to the lights.
Things I might have tried: Custom white balance, landscape mode so as to allow more room for the tweasers and moth. Maybe bringing in the tweasers from another angle. The lighting may have worked better if it had been bounced off an object above your prop, so as to be a more diffused overhead light. I may have lowered the angle of the camera to introduce a 3rd dimension to the objects. Their current orientation leaves them lifeless and flat.
I do think that this concept is worth playing with. Addressing the limitations of your camera and lighting, I think that you have the possibilities of making a nice iconic piece of art. |

Gear Down, Flaps Outby pinbackComment: I cracked up when I saw this. The 2 of them are perfect. I would like a little more space around them, but otherwise a nice capture. 8 -danny |
