Definitely a cool shot, with excellent textures and great use of negative space. Wonderful, understated, minimal. I like it!

Great shot, wonderful choices in the shoot (to catch the motion in the water, but keep the rest sharp). Excellent conversion, too, nice contrast and textures throughout.

Cool shot! I love how all the lines move together -- powerlines, monorail, tracks, wall -- it all gives great flow to the image. The conversion is well done. They didn't have a monorail when I was last in Vegas (2001, I think); guess it's time to visit again!

Excellent image; well seen and shot. Whites in Vegas are dazzling, aren't they? A bit too much at times, though your image represents them well. I remember once I went there and forgot my sunglasses; it wasn't two minutes before I was in a tourist trap buying a cheap replacement pair! I like this image, though I might have cropped a little off of the left (there's a bit of a light/lamp or something showing that I might have got rid of).

Such wonderful textures and tones; how does this thing stay up? It doesn't seem to be made of the same material for more than a few feet in any one direction. I would love to see what you could get with a lens baby on this, to undo some of the backward tilt I feel, but as is it just lends to the "this is about to fall down" feeling I get when viewing the whole image. Well shot!

It's not fun until someone loses an eye ;) This is a delightful shot, with excellent choices all along, from focal point, to DoF, to B&W tones, sharpness, and composition. Wonderful.

I love the feel of this; I would actually go the opposite direction from Crystal ( jaded_youth), though (isn't DPC great?), and use a longer shutter speed, hoping to get some of the motion in both the branch (which I like) and the curtains. Some light toning here might also work here, though perhaps more silvery than sepia-y.

Wonderful; fav'd. I know you're thrilled (and rightfully so) with your two texture shots, but this is probably my favorite of the challenge that you've done. I like the crop, the use of the almost negative space where the sand is, and the lovely textures and tones. Great stuff. Thanks for hanging in here with us, even given how you have been feeling. I enjoy looking at and thinking about your work!

I like the look of this and the relatively tight crop; nicely composed. But beyond the technicals, I'm very moved by this; the expression on the girl's face: I read longing, sadness, a tiredness beyond what comes from a day out with mom. Combined with the stuff spread out, it really draws me in. I want to do something, to fix it, to give her a toy and her mom some piece of mind (it doesn't hurt that I have a two-year-old). This can, of course, be all wrong; but the image really touches me, and for me that's what it's all about.

Excellent. The image makes it seem to me that the shadow is more real than the man, and that it might turn around at any moment and start chasing him. Minimal, and incredibly effective, I love it.
