Such wonderful colors here, with shades moving so smoothly from one to the next. The person is clearly visible, but in a fitting way that works well with this image. I might have moved the main tree a little more to the right, but I'm not sure that would improve it. 10.

One of the few images that, for me, had a person in plain view that I didn't see straight away. Delightful composition, wonderful black and white with good tones throughout, and interesting lines leading my eyes away from "Waldo." 10.

I expected to see a lot more of these kinds of images, but not done this well. Yours is quite good, with the lines of the background playing well over the surface and the flowers breaking them up with a splash of color. I wish the eye wasn't looking at me, but it's such a minor quibble I can't even dock you any points for it. 10.

Delightful image, full of energy and drama. "Waldo" was easily found, but that's not critical to me for this challenge. Instead, the image you have presented is interesting and has wonderful lines and flow. It actually draws me in, like a scary movie. I'm jealous that the seagull is so clearly in focus and yet has no perceptible haloing whatsoever (whenever I shoot flying birds they always have halos, even if I don't sharpen them)! This is a "10" from me.

Pure As The Driven Snow

Pure As The Driven Snow

I really like this image; it's a testament to the primary importance of technicals to DPC voters that it didn't do better. It does say pure to me, in a way that reflects, well, just pure. Not pure this or that, but just pure (like your saying, "Pure as the driven snow" isn't really about snow). I might have (emphasize might) have dropped the center of the flower a bit lower and to the left, but it's very strong as is. For me, the soft focus emphasizes the point of the image. Is purity always in supposed to be in focus?

Perhaps DPCers haven't attended an event quite like this one; I have. Many times, in fact. This picture captures what's there really well, and from an interesting perspective. Composition works well for me, the placement of the singer especially so. The other people don't bother me; in fact, it would be weirder for me without them. That one is going (or being talked to, or whatever) also doesn't distract me. For me, it's all part of the scene, and the chaotic energy of it really works to bring me back into that "kind" of scene, scenes which are always moving. I think this image would get that kind of polar response, on one end from those who experience it, and on the other from those who see it (both are valid, they're just different perspectives which might help to explain your score). My longest comment ever, I think :)

My initial reaction was the the background area was cool, but I focused on the tree, which is a nice conversion and gives the feeling that you're almost there. The conversion is excellent, with good tones. When I look more, I do see something, but not a goat; more of a skull, I think, and it adds an interesting dimension to the image.

Good setup; I'm might have tried the tiniest bit more depth of field, somewhere across the cutters, but as is -- especially with the red background -- it makes really neat abstract.

Such ingenuity in setting this up; I almost always forget to find an interesting place to put anything I'm setting up. Will think of you next time I do it :) Strong composition here, too, the lines work well the way you've shot it.
