Waldo at Water: A Study in Leisure

Pleasant image here, with nice blues in the sky and reflected in the water. Looks like a nice calm place to just sit and relax. I'm not finding a lot to look at here, though, and the only thing that seems to grab my attention is looking for (and finding) Waldo (thus, meeting the challenge well).

Interesting processing here in a nice woodland scene; the processing and composition work well to draw attention away from Waldo, and it take some time to find hims. The shades and colors are really cool, and I half expected to find Waldo as an elf or a king or something. Lovely shot.

Interesting space, well captured and presented. Waldo was easy to find, but that doesn't really matter to me (I'm looking for interesting images here, not Waldo). This looks like the kind of place someone goes to get away from things, but it looks very purposeful, planted, planned, with all the trees in nice rows. I might have tried to eek a bit more contrast out of this image, to the brights were a bit brighter and the darks a bit darker, but generally it works well for me.

I thought there would be a lot of selective desaturation in this challenge, but didn't expect one that would use it so subtly or creatively. Just the tiniest splash of color, hidden behind shades of gray. I generally like the image, with an interesting perspective and good choices for the lines (running front right to rear right and rear left). Composition is good, though the brightness in the back headstones is a bit distracting to my eyes (though perhaps you were using that to draw attention away from Waldo?). Well done.

Interesting choices made here, especially the narrow depth of field focused on the far end of the bridge. It's a neat idea, and is generally suitably executed, but I think for me the DoF doesn't work so well (though the more I look the more I feel it driving me to the person, which I like), and I would liked to have seen more contrast in tones throughout the image.

A generally nice image, but one that doesn't pull me in for some reason; could be the lighting, which seems flat rather than shadowy (perhaps to help hide "Waldo" a bit more?), though composition works well for what is being accomplished here.

Mid-day lighting throws this off a bit, I think, as everything is uniform in lighting with stark shadows. The image is well composed, and the reflection in the water serves it well. The stick in the water is unfortunate, as are those on the shore, but on the whole it serves its challenge purpose suitably.

Nice lines in this; makes me want to walk along the sidewalk and look into the water. The dark shades of blue suit it well, and though the lights distract me a bit in their blurriness, the overall appearance is generally good.

I had this at a 6, and came back to comment. I'm not sure what I was thinking. There are delightful elements to this, and the composition works really well, both in terms of general strength but also in terms of meeting the challenge. The choice of shutter speed provides wonderful results in terms of flow of the water, and the light throughout is quite nice. Definitely not a 6 (it's an 8).

Interesting, almost painted colors here, with nice plays of light across the path and the trees. Not much going on beyond the challenge theme (searching for Waldo), and I may have tried a lower angle or something closer to the path to give some flow to the image, but that may not have worked in the circumstances of the shot.
