| 06/27/2007 01:26:54 PM | The Eyes Give It Awayby KrystleComment: I like that there's more here than meets the eye; the hand lower down gives it a bit of punch, and the idea here is a good one for the challenge. The lighting here, which seems to be a flash, is a bit harsh for my eyes, and perhaps using natural light with a slower shutter speed might have made it appear more natural to me and a bit more subdued. To me, the person is hiding behind the tree, perhaps hoping not to be seen, and the harsh light detracts from that impression. Still, interesting elements throughout. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 01:26:47 PM | Going fishingby birkinComment: Some great colors and feeling to this, with delightful clouds and cool green/gray water. I'm not thrilled with the composition, which might be stronger with the bridge and clouds a bit higher and a bit more of the water showing, but I suppose this way deemphasizes Waldo a bit. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 01:19:01 PM | Tree in gray weatherby hajekaComment: I like the feeling of this; I see many days like this, and you've captured it well, with the background so misty and gray. Obviously not great lighting, but what is here is well composed and well presented, and I like the line that runs past the tree. Interesting shot. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 01:17:48 PM | Peek-a-booby JuliBocComment: Directly related to the challenge, but it doesn't really reach me as an image. The lighting is harsh, and the colors overpowered by the light at times. I like many of the elements of the composition, with the vertical lines of the railings all running parallel, and sort of driving the eye up toward the tower in the middle, but with this cut off, even that is hard for me to get to grips with. Suits the challenge, but I think there's room here to bring it together as an image, too. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 01:15:12 PM | Hidden Loveby MonicagdComment: There are some interesting elements to this image, and some interesting compositional choices made. I generally like the tones, though the blacks aren't quite black, and the whites aren't quite white. I think the image might reach me more if there was a touch more contrast, and if the middle section wasn't so busy (between the trees and the pergola beams). Waldo is there, but I think the distance this was shot at to hide him makes it harder for me to appreciate. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 12:53:17 PM | The Missus' Morning Mission to find the Missing (Waldo X 3)by CitadelComment: I've had a good look at and think about this shot. It's a definitely interesting approach to the shot, and some of what could be seen as technical defects actually add to the character of it for me. There is clutter in the background (on the shelf); well, there is clutter in real life. There is food on the table; yep, breakfast time. The whites aren't white and the blacks aren't black (there isn't really very strong contrast in the shot); well, I don't always have great, beautiful, perfect light when I'm eating breakfast, why would you? My initial take on this missed some of its subtle character. I'm glad I took another look, it's a really interesting shot. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 10:57:09 AM | In the Roughby soupComment: Intrigues me for its take on the challenge, but beyond finding Waldo, I can't find much else going on here. The greens are okay, but a bit more contrast and perhaps even more saturation, might have made this call more to me. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 10:56:08 AM | A Walk in the Parkby BrianRComment: Good choice here for the challenge; the colors blend together well, and the scene has lots of interesting things to look at. Some of the little distractions seem to be drawing me away from this image, though, such as some of the things you can see through the trees on the left, or the house (or something colored) above the woman's head. Nice textures in the trees, though, and a good overall effort here. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 10:50:21 AM | Smoke Break in the Cloistersby surfdabblerComment: Interesting image, with so few colors throughout but not b&w; I like the perspective and there are interesting things to see, but for some reason I keep finding my eyes drawn to the brightness of the lights, lingering there and not looking down the path. Maybe that's what would happen if I was there, and I would trip and fall because I was looking up at the lights. Interesting shot. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/27/2007 10:48:25 AM | At the Holiday Inn (Yes, he's there!)by ElaineComment: I had to look at this a few times, each time wondering why the focus was soft. Was it an intentional attempt to keep us from finding Waldo? Was it done intentionally to reflect what we often feel when we see this view (for me, it's that I'm late somewhere, or for something, and never really stop to look beyond just finding my place)? In any event, it made me stop and think, and look some more, at something I don't often look at. And that's a good thing! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
