Wedgesby TallblokeComment: Great composition, leads the eye down to the splash of colour which is, rather satisfyingly, the subject ie: wedge shaped shoes. The fantastic legs on the model will bump the marks up no end as well i'll wager. ;) |

Barefootby mihaibadicComment: Less is more, and I usually agree with this principle, however if that was the case, then why not follow it right through and wait for the clouds to move entirely from shot. Either that or go for a different angle and sillhouette the shoes against an amazing colourful sunset, or deep blue sky. I like this version of the dangling shoe theme the best so far though. |

Ghosts in the Hallsby xuan768Comment: Excellent job, and well done on both the conceptual work leading up to, and the execution of this shot. I love shots like this, and you've really captured both the movement, and just enough extra of the shoes to make them the focus of the shot. I wondered at first if I should nit-pick about the corridor being too bright for a 'spooky' atmosphere, but the more I look the more I really like this image. 10 |

Little Feetby livitupComment: The shot doesn't look controlled, and has far too much going on besides the 'little feet'. Cropping the untidy parts like the blanket and nappy (diaper) till you're left with just the feet and hand helps a lot. The sock/shoe comparison hasn't been developed as strongly as it could be. |

The Streakerby TabbyCatComment: Nice concept, and good composition, just a shame it could have been executed better. take the dirt on the boots first of all. and they could have been lit better to accentuate the contrast with the otherwise plain background. And maybe a slight blur on the boots would have helped the effect. |

Guarding the Bootsby neophyteComment: The dog is dominating this picture, and relegates the boots to the back-seat. Makes more a cute pet pic than an image about shoes. I know I'm probably asking the impossible here, considering the subject, but maybe placing him either behind or in front of the boots and using a short focal range focusing on the boots would suit the theme more strongly. |

Dancing the Night Away....by pixielandComment: The composition, just like the metaphors, has been pushed to breaking point I fear. There's too much trying to be said all at once, and the cheekiness and wit would be stronger with at least 2 elements removed from the shot. Less is more. |

Magritte Shoesby OdedComment: It's a nice idea, but it just seems a little like the effect's being used for the sake of using that effect. The underlying shot seems very busy, take the carpet pattern for one. And the cropping seems uncomfortable, with the edges of the shoes on either side sliced off for no obvious reason. If the camera had moved right in to the boots on the right the image would have been a lot more effective. The strange cut-away on the boots and the toes peeking out by themselves are more than enough to stand by themselves and make a strong image. |

The Shoe Treeby PugPopComment: I saw a couple of these in the competition so far, and not being american had to do a bit of googling to discover the meaning. A charming subject now I understand, but a shame the shoes themselves aren't the focus of the shot. Maybe taking the shot from a different position would remove the overexposure caused by the sky on the right. The composition could be a bit better also. Take the 'negative space' around the shoes. Some have plenty of space around them while the pair bottom right are jammed uncomfortably into the corner. |

Big Dayby eyesightphotoComment: The depth of field is very tight in this shot, and focuses on the strap on the left shoe, and a little on the heel. It would be easier on the eye to bring the whole of the shoes into focus. The edge of the table in the background cutting awkwardly through the shot makes the composition uneasy, and could be resolved with a higher angle, or placing a large card behind the shoes or something. |
