Greetings from the Critique Club

Nice finish on a new second personal best! Wow you are very good with architectural photography. Thanks so much for taking the time to fill out the details about this photo. It is wonderful timing that you were able to capture the sun peaking through. The light defiantly effect specific tones of the photos, that I think are drawn out through the monochrome treatment. The composition is good, I like that you angled the photo as you saw it instead of trying to crop out to much or straighten it.

I really like this photo, I hope you printed a nice big copy for yourself. I am sorry you didn't receive some quality comments. I hope you stay inspired and continue to share your artist style, through these wonderful pieces of architecture.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Welcome to DPC! It is amazing how much you can learn here. People will give you feedback both good an bad which really helps as you go along.

Very interesting subject you chose for Spitting Fire. I like that you chose something different as well as something that is going to have more dramatic lighting. the placement of the subject is good, it draws the eye right into the center. I see that you commented about the red in the image. Once a voting starts you are not able to change the image so its best that you didn't I would hate for you to DQ on your first entry. I would try taking this shot again sometime to see if you can get the red not to give off such a harsh effect, you might even have to try to shot at different times of the day to play with the natural lighting available. You might even try a couple different angles to see what happens.

Best of luck on your next challenge!

Greetings from the Critique Club

The Guitartist is a very well composed and overall good looking photograph. I like the simplicity even though there are details that make this image intricate. For example I like the simple lighting complimented with the white background. Then in contrast we have nice strong details coming across in the guitar itself and her expression. The small details are what truly draw the eye into the image.

I think when we enter into the Free Study challenges we have to be willing to do it for ourselves and not so much the ribbon. I think it is the hardest challenge to enter. I think if this exact photo had been entered into a specific category like instruments, musicians or something like that you would have seen a much higher placement.

You have a great eye, as well as the ability to put together well composed and clean shots. I really look forward to more entries from you in the future.

Greeting from the Critique Clubâ€Â¦

Brrrr I have been there out in the cold capturing “the shot”. I think it is well worth it. The coloring created by the timing is really great. The coloring is really what grabs my eye, when I look at the photo.

Sometimes it is hard to understand what would help a photo score better. One thing I can think of that might have helped would be cropping more off the bottom, placing the driftwood on a third of the frame.

I also wonder if since it is not specifically a tree voters gave you a harder time with the score. I personally like things that are a little more out of the box then the typical shot you would expect but then again usually the top 10 photos are those images you would first think of when you here the challenge subject. But if it is a photo you like, then in my opinion that’s all that matters.

I think it’s a very nice shot. I look forward to more entries in the future.
