The Human Soul (female)

"The Human Soul (female)" is a unique piece, the title defiantly grabbed my attention. It was an excellent out of the box idea and shot. During the challenge I was very curious to see what this actually was, and now I am still quite surprised. The abstract part of the challenge is prefect, I am thinking that maybe it was the empty space at the top the hurt the score. I think abstractly speaking your placement and emptiness of the top is a great fit but maybe from the voters perspective it seemed a little off because we are used to see full centered shots. I think you did great work capturing the glow with altering it to much or creating noise. I would be interested to see a few different crops to enhance the subject, but I still Iike your choice. I will be really curious to see your future pieces. Good work.

"Circles Of Colour" is a nice photo to have used for the Abstract challenge. I think when voters have to stop and think of what this is actual a shot of, then you have met the challenge.

The colors you chose are very bright and vibrant. I still am not sure what the shot is actually of so good job, it is defiantly abstract. I would be interested to see the shot if you were able to include the full circle, it just seems a little cropped. It would also be interesting to see the center a little clearer, but that's just my opinion. Excellent work and use of color.

"Foliage" is an excellent addition into the Abstract challenge, and I am very glad to see you finished in the top 10%. Just thumbing through the challenge I remember this thumbnail sticking out. The frame is so full and bright it demands attention. The detail of this close up is amazing. The little spider enhances this shot, it is what clued me into what the shot was of. I think when voters have to stop and try and figure out what we are looking at is a prefect fit for an abstract. The contrasting colors of the leaves give so much depth as opposed to leaves that were just one color. Also the edges separate the image from a boring run of the mill close up. Personally I don't see anything I would change or recommend trying. I personally would be extremely proud of this piece if I were you. Good work.

High Jump Commences

"High Jump Commences" fits perfectly into the Motion Panning challenge. Not too bad of a placement or score, this was a though challenge.

I really think the most important and best aspect of your shot is the focal point being his face. You have captured so much of what makes us human by allowing the focus to be his determination. The blur is nice and shows the fast past movement. I think it the shot would have scored a little higher if there were no other people in the background, but I am sure this was a hard enough shot to take. Also I think you took a brave step with adding such a thick border but it really works for me. The only other thing I would try would be to increase the contrast some jus to make the shot brighter. Great work.
