Wind in My Sail >>>by tmhallingComment: I just can't figure this out. Maybe you can help and I'll change this post. The guy on the board is so sharp which is great, but the water is too, as whitnessed by the droplets in the air. I could be wrong. The background looks like the blur came from DOF in a long lens. So my point is there really isn't any "motion blur" in this image, so how do I rate it?
If I rated it just as an image, it would be around a 5. It doesn't have any pop to me. If it was cropped with just the two sail boarders it would be much higher like an 8. I know you were trying to crop it with the trails of the two boards but I don't think you needed that to convey the motion. Really good sharp shot of the guy in front too, I know that was not a mistake but a really great shot.
I am serious if anything I wrote was not appreciated I will remove it before the end of the voting. I only commented because I know how hard you worked on this and wanted just to chime in with some constructive ideas. Be well.

Keeping Paceby elee3009Comment: Yawn...I know I saw this before...going the other way. Title should be Dejavu.. did I spell that right?
Honestly on it own it isn't very good in post. The image is sharp on the rider which is good, but the vignette is a bit too much as a border. Just my opinion and we all know about those so don't be upset with me. |

red skies at nightby RikkiComment: Hi Rikki, congrats on your ribbon. Someday maybe even I will get one.
What I loved about this was the red sky, violet water and the green grass. I thought that looked wonderful. I think you could have done it with a few less filters. I shot at dawn once and it was really really a red sky and I called it "Sailor be Warned" you can see it here:
I love when we can capture with our cameras what most people miss in day to day life. You did real good here. |
