Free Study IX - Alternate Versionby ShaneBlakeComment: '5/6' - Hypothetically. Gave the 'real entry' 6. Like the colors in this better, but it has a 'raw/grainy' feel to it in my opinion etc. As with the other, seemed the horizon was not straight, but could just be the perspective/angle. |

Clarityby JennAppleComment: You are a member - I'd be interested in seeing this at 640 width (if possible) posted in your portfolio. I like the colors and think it has potential bigger. edit: thank you for posting the other version, I left a comment Message edited by author 2005-12-17 17:43:38. |

Big Coal Burner by RistyzComment: 9 - Ohh - very good. Criticism; ahh, not much, maybe a little more space to the left if possible, may have made this even better. Really like the lighting and composition and fore 'silhouette' with the grass. Another where the size wouldn't do it justice, but that's part of the game. I think it is just the shadowing on the water(?) on the left, but seems this might need the slightest fraction nudge rotation up on the left, but I think it is just the shadow/whatever - apologies if wrong. Great shot and 'effect(s)'. Up to 9 from 8. |

vrOOmby yourdealerComment: 3 - Good potential. Criticism; needs to be at least 640 on one side, in this case height. More context and perhaps even 'straightening', would have made this better in my opinion. Like the toning, works well. |

The Journeys Closeby bruskiComment: 8 - Oh no, I commented in detail days ago but it didn't save. Ok, really like this and a good capture with a wide angle/fish eye (?) lens of a seemingly beautiful scene, or it just may be what you have done with it or how you captured it that makes it so good. Criticism; incorporating more of the fore grass (detail/texture and color) would likely have complemented the 'top', an even sharper perspective (ground up), more detail in the ice(?) and perhaps a touch up on the blue in it (difficult with contrast issues) and a slight softening of the sky/sun (although I do like the unusual effect here, may have made this even better in my opinion. It is the almost contrasting 'top/bottom' that appeals most for me in this shot. |

Ruff Dayby DelRioPhotoComment: 8 - Really like this shot. Good character capture. Criticism; the sharpness in the nose is good, but 'if only' it either carried through a little 'deeper', or else were perhaps (the nose) more prominent/closer. The seemingly 'high key' type of effect works here, especially given the white fur on the mouth/chin and chest, so even though it seems a little 'blown' around the edges, this still 'works', in my opinion. Memorable shot. Up to 8 from 7. |

"Kissin' don't last but cookin' do."by glodaComment: 8 - Very good. Well done if this is original. Criticism; not much, the shadowing and toning works well. Perhaps a slight variation in the toning (not sure) to add more 'depth' here, especially to bring out the heart at the center, may have made this even better in my opinion. Maybe it is just a lighting issue, which I imagine was difficult to control and retain a balance in that center. |

Geléeby Dax-Comment: 7 - I like the abstract, good colors. Criticism; difficult, as it is an abstract but, perhaps a little more definition, especially in texture, of the fork edge, may have made this better in my opinion. Not sure on the frame and the thickness of it, especially at this size. I would rather have seen the pixels used to show more of your shot. |

Elixerby indy79Comment: 7 - Nice and 'clean'. Criticism; although the reflections in the spoon add an interest/element, not sure if they enhance this shot. I also cannot decipher the 'elixir' as much as I wish I could and it in fact may just be a desaturated reflection. If it is a liquid, then I think completely filling the spoon (and obviously then needing to prop it up level on the end of the handle) may have made this even better in my opinion. But this may not be the case nor your intent at all. |
