I gave this a 6. I thought the character/eccentricity capture was fairly good and that it was a fairly good candid capture within the crowd/environment. The main 'criticism' I had was: although the gentleman was 'singled out', he (and the dog) did not 'stand out' enough in my opinion. The character(s) were colorful, but the crowd was even more colorful, thus detracting again from the impact of the 'singled out' subject(s). The dog possibly in focus as well and more visible, a finer crop especially the lady on the left and the 'blown'/overexposed people/objects in the distance and possibly also at the bottom, especially to eliminate that 'pink leg/brown shoe', may have made this better in my opinion. Also, fairly minor (but causes additional issues in trying to adjust in pp), the reflection/blown' area on the gentleman's forehead is slightly distracting/detracting. The lighting may have been better utilized from another angle, depending what was there/you had access to, obviously. His seemingly smallish frame/build makes it even harder to 'single him out'. Lastly, although the focus seems good (also for 'isolating using range'), but a little sharper would be even better, just seems a fraction blurry, but could be resizing issues, etc. In my opinion, even a 'perfect shot' of a character like this (with or without dog), likely starts to get into areas of 'novelty'/subject matter and personal preferences, style/taste; if you've seen it before, then it is not so novel and the 'character impact' may not be as strong &/or some people/viewers will 'see' something other than 'the novelty' or 'character', if that makes sense. Difficult, and you obviously attempted many shots as mentioned, so well done for making a concerted effort to try to 'meet the Challenge', which you did well, in my opinion.

Left more detailed comments on 'main'. Looks like a very slight 'purple tinge' to this, but a difficult shot to adjust.
edit: apologies, you nudged rotated this up on the right, which was my first 'perception' and 'suggestion' ('landline level' etc) - after I tried to edit it, I started to concentrate on the snow/direction/leap and that paw, that's where I started thinking 'gravity/impact', hence 'left' - sorry for the confusion. This edit does 'pop' more than your original because of the color tweaking.

Nice capture, unusual angle/perspective, good composition, nice background and bokeh. Difficult to discern (and apologies in advance if wrong) but looks like it needs a nudge rotation up on the left/right/I'm confused now, or it may just be the perspective. Sharper and more 'pop', the colors tweaked perhaps (difficult, especially with the snow), make this even better in my opinion - but obviously opportune and good capture for that. I like the spray of snow from where it lept. A unique shot. edit2:changed 'right'/'left'/I'm confused now - 'typo' - I think it was 'right' originally - looks fine any way

Nice capture of - '1 day old'. I know this was put here for a thread so won't go into 'criticism', which I'm sure you're fully aware of anyway.

Again depending what you had to work with, while the centered composition works well here, perhaps a fraction more space above the head and to the left of the bill/beak, may have made this even better in my opinion. Of course the person in the background, and to a certain extent, the pens/fencing/whatever distract/detract. Not much to be done about the person (save for timing at time of shooting or cloning out in pp), the pens/fencing/whatever perhaps could be used to add an unusual patterned element here, not sure. A difficult bird to photograph and still be able to discern the texture/detail in the feathers/etc.

Nice colors and composition. If the eye were nice and sharp (and ideally the beak/bill as well) make this even better in my opinion. Looks like fairly good contrast control in the whites/feathers.

Another good 'opportunity capture' that to get it 'sharp' as well as taking it in time is rare. Again, possibly a crop variation and slight nudge rotation up on the left may help this in my opinion.

This is quite funny and a good capture. I think cropping it tighter on the left for off-center, otherwise trying to gain perfect symmetry/centering, would make this even better in my opinion. Sharper of course too, but 'opportune'.

7 - Good unique capture. Criticism; difficult, as this is likely fully zoomed both camera and pp, and I can just discern the quality beginning to deteriorate as is (some noise/grain/pixelated or possible resizing/jpeg loss issues). Colors are good, composition good, possibly a more finely tuned crop especially bottom left, but difficult. Depending what you had to work with, possibly incorporating a little more above 'The brakeman' may have given this something extra (and helped size/quality wise), but not sure, works good as is compositionally. Up to 7 from 6, mainly for the 'unique factor/capture'.

8 - Good. Like the way everyone is 'otherwise occupied', including the main subject, even though he seems to be aware of the camera. Criticism; mainly the lady in the maroon coat/jacket, being the only 'other' without a raincoat/cover detracts from the overall impact and 'clothing effect', save for a totally different crop, not much you can do about that, obviously. Depending what you had to work with, the subject more centered, a more finely tuned crop on the right and possibly more space at the bottom may have made this even better in my opinion, but does work well as is. Up to 8 from 7.
