I think this works as he is singled out by something much more effective than DOF - emotion. The facial expression tells it all. Lots of sharpening artifacts but I figre had to have high ISO to get this stop action moment.

The contrast between his closed mouth and all the open-mouthed screams around him is wonderful.

Was very impressed for the first while until I really studies the false screams. Well orchestrated image lol. Good job overall, just the right amount of lighting without added sunlight glare and some nice natural shadows of faces.

7 - Good unique capture. Criticism; difficult, as this is likely fully zoomed both camera and pp, and I can just discern the quality beginning to deteriorate as is (some noise/grain/pixelated or possible resizing/jpeg loss issues). Colors are good, composition good, possibly a more finely tuned crop especially bottom left, but difficult. Depending what you had to work with, possibly incorporating a little more above 'The brakeman' may have given this something extra (and helped size/quality wise), but not sure, works good as is compositionally. Up to 7 from 6, mainly for the 'unique factor/capture'.

Good acton shot, but they all seem to stand out, but maybe the guy in purple sleevless jacket stands out the most.....

Great picture. The image quality is "ok", but the composition and subject meet the challenge perfectly. I love the juxtaposition of the "cool" brakeman against the screaming riders. Nice capture - nicely done!

I love how his subjective experience is completely different from everyone else's. You were one of very few people who had the guts to single someone out with composition more than depth of field. 8.

The brakeman definitely sticks out because of his sunglasses and lack of screaming, but otherwise there's nothing that really sets him off from the rest of the group. Composition is kind of flat and boring, and it looks like you might have compressed the jpeg too much? The colors are a little blotchy.

Nice attempt, not too convincing however for this challenge, ok color, excellent capture, light a bit harsh, blacks ok, whites blown, overall just ok

A nice shot, but I think that the guy in the middle is singled out compositionally, but not through photographic technique (use of DOF), as was required for this challenge.

Surreal. Nice catch.

Very well done. He is singled out not only by being the focal point, but the fact that everyone else is obviously "into" something, while he is the only one solemn and somber. The composition is nice. Great job.

Great, the only one calm, great idea.

The colors are kind of washed out, my guess is that you did a lot of post processing work and lighten up the image. Good shot still.

Good capture and composition. Good work on getting the even lighting on the faces. I don't like the unnaturally soft faces.

Good capture, you've got him singled out, I just wish you'd managed a shallower DOF as it would be up there withe the ribbon contenders

great shot...deserves top 6 finish...the people around the guy, their expressions, make his deadpan face really look singled out
