Girl In The Woodby gsalComment: I love the grainy look, I like the desaturation and I really like how she is looking off to the side. I would suggest to crop off some of the top, the crop you have now makes her appear very short, I would also place the subject off center to make it more interesting. |

I think this is amazing!!! The texture in the feathers looks so soft. Beautifully cropped. I would have given you a better comment during the challenge but there were so many to vote on. The colors are bright and look great. There does seem to be some noise. I was grasping for something to suggest and I had to look a long time to find that. It is just really hard for me to give suggestion to a photo as great as this one. So my critique is....AWESOME PHOTO! You kicked my butt.
Sorry I am not very helpful.

me5.jpgby parrotheadComment: Great photo! You look pissed off! Is this how you are going to look at those scared boys that come over to take out cute little Gracie when she turns 16? LOL J/K!!! Great lighting on this photo, really. The cig is a nice touch...makes you look very serious. You should flick those ashes though. |

The Right Momentby pgattComment: *Critique Club*
I really like the contrast between the color of the sand and the blue sky. It is really nice to be able to see the texture of the rock up close without the rest of the image really blurry. The sky looks fierce! It appears to be moving very quickly and the wave hitting against the shore also repeats the feeling of strength. Nature is amazing and you have captured it well.
I would love to see this picture without the processing. There are some dark spots, but in a way it adds to the mood for me. I feel that the clouds are oversharpened. The edges are so sharp, that far away just seems unnatural.
I would also like to add that I really like how you framed the image with the rocks starting in the upper left hand corner. My eyes flow right through the middle of the image, as the rocks seperate the land and sea in just the right spot. Please forgive my horrible spelling. I just read what I typed and I sound like a hippie....just a little.LOL Great image and good luck in future challenges.

Safariby tmhallingComment: *Critique Club*
I LOVE the colors! Very Nice!! I think that the lighting (contrast) is perfect too. Wouldn't change it at ALL.
There are a few things I would change. Is that a light pole? There is a really tall pole or something behind or infront of the tree on the right. I would have cloned that out. I also would have cloned out the bridge in the background. It is a nice bridge...but doesn't say wild safari to me.
The trees and the coloration of the sky combined with the sunset scream safari to me though. Reminds me of the beginning of The Lion King movie. Can you tell that I have small children?
As far as the compostion goes, I think that you did a fine job. I held up a piece of paper and "cropped" off some on the left side where the negative space is. My thoughts were..."nope, looks better like it is!" With the negative space gone the picture looks too centered and boring.
The sun looks a little strange. I guess because I expect it to be a circle. Not sure how the two bumps on it happened....it was just something I noticed.
Overall...I like the photograph! It is very pleasing to look at. It makes me wonder is the person on the bench a photographer or a hunter? Maybe they are waiting for someone? Who knows? Besides my few little suggestions I think that you did a very good job. Good Luck in future challenges. Please let me know if you think that I am way off base.

mystic table mountainby TOYComment: *Critique Club*
Very very interesting! What an amazing site! I would have loved to have seen this in person. I have never been out of the United States, much less Africa. I am so jealous.
I think that you have captured this scene very well. The purple tones of the sky are magical. The mountain is very interesting as well. It has great texture and seems to change color either from the skies reflection or manipulated by you...doesn't matter...its cool! The subject for the challenge was a good one! I also feel that this image has alot of appeal to it.
The one thing that I might have done differently would have been the crop. Now, I am not an expert or claim to be. I do not photograph landscapes either. This is just my opinion. I would have zoomed in closer to the mountain and let IT take up about 1/2 or 3/4 of the frame. Cropping it just a little bit above the highest peak of the mountain. The reason is because, I personally find the colors and texture of the mountain more appealing than the sky. The sky is beautiful, but for me, the clouds do not seem to hold enough of my interest to take up more than half of the frame.
I hope that this was helpful. Please forgive my spelling..I am just a hick from Tennessee. LOL
